    James E. MacMurray (1862-1943) was founder of the Quincy Hardware Manufacturing Co., the predecessor to ACME Steel, and served as president or chairman of the board for more than 50 years. Elected Senator for the 5th District in Illinois 1926 for a single term. He retired in 1941.
