  11. Foundation of House Destroyed by Arson, Alton, Illinois
    Following a October 24, 1992, house fire that killed two Alton Fire Department firefighters, debris was cleared from the ruins to facilitate fire investigations. Investigators found traces of accelerants in the remnants of the house's basement, which helped prove that the fire was the result of arson.
