    These are leather wrist and/or ankle restraint used in the late 1800's.

  2. 189-.25.2 Bone saw
    This orthopedic bone saw was manufactured by Pilling Surgical Instrument Company of Philadelphia late in the 1800's.

  3. 189-.25.3 Saw
    This hatchet shaped surgical saw was used in the late 1800's. Manufactured by Tiemater, it includes a bone or ivory handle.

  4. 1893.19.1 The Nightingale plege
    This decorative rendition of the Nightingale Pledge was provided at one time, with compliments, by the Eli Lilly Company.

  5. 190-.25.3 Vest restraint
    This patient restraint was manufactured by Richards Medical Company of Memphis, TN and used in the early 1900's.

  6. 190-.25.4 Labor Pull Straps
    These fabric straps with handles could be attached to a bed during a patient's labor and delivery.

  7. 190-.25.5 Medical Bag
    This medical bag, carried by a Fulton County physician in the early 1900's, included a sterizer and medicines to treat patients outside the office.

  8. 190-.25.6 Medical bag
    This medical bag, carried by a Fulton County physician in the early 1900's, included a sterizer, several bottles for medicine, a canister device to administer ether or chloroform, and duodenal tubing. The bag itself was manufactured as a Duro-Mastermade by the A. S. Aloe Co. of St. Louis, MO.

  9. 1900.1.1 John G. and Alice Lydia Graham
    These copied photographs show John G. Graham and Alice Lydia Graham, parents of Caroline and Alice Graham, who originally funded the building of Graham Hospital and Training School for Nurses in Canton, IL in 1909.

    This 1904 photograph is of Mrs. Seymour who was the first superintendent of the First Canton Hospital in South Park, Canton, Illinois.

    This instrument was used to weigh babies in the 1920’s and 30’s. It was made in the USA and patented on February 13, 2912 by RSM Co.

    Two rib cutters of varying sizes, manufactured by the Willbrandt Instrument Co. of St. Louis, are included in the collection.

    This stainless steal hemoclamp was manufactured in Germany by V. Mueller & Co.

  34. 192-.25.13 Tissue expanders
    Two tissue expanders of varying sizes are included in the Graham Hospital School of Nursing historical collection.

    This medical filter/strainer was used in the early 1900's.

    This syringe was used in the 1920's.

  37. 192-.25.17 Orthopedic drill
    This orthopedic drill used in the 192-‘s and 30’s includes a variety of bits. It was manufactured by V. Mueller & Co. of Chicago, IL. The initials EPC are engraved on the handle for Canton, IL physician Everett P. Coleman.

  38. 192-.25.2 Cautery and transformer
    This cautery and transformer were owned and used by Dr. Everett P. Coleman practicing medicine in Canton, IL. They were manufactured by Cameron's Surgical Specialty Co. from Chicago, IL.

  39. 192-.25.3 Pill case
    This leather bound pill case of glass stopper bottles belonged to Dr. James E. Coleman of Canton, Illinois. It was estimated to have been used following WWI, probably in the 1920's.

  40. 192-.25.4 Catheter
    This urinary catheter is believed to have belonged to Dr. Everett P. Coleman of Canton, IL and used in the 1920's and 30's, primarily for surgical use. It was manufactured by the Electro Surgical Instrument Co. of Rochester, NY.

  41. 192-.25.5 Glass straws and spoons
    This is an assortment of glass straws and spoons used in hospitals during the 1920's.

  42. 192-.25.6 Surgical instruments
    This set of surgical instruments was owned by a Dr. Nelles who practiced medicine in Canton, IL in the 1920's.

  43. 192-.25.7 Skull borers
    These three skull borers of varying sizes were manufactured by Pilling Surgical Instruments of Philadelphia, PA in the 1920's.

  44. 192-.25.8 Tissue forceps
    These two tissue forceps were manufactured by Weck Surgical Instruments of Germany in the 1920's or 30's.
