Description
The Atwood Inn was the gayest kind of a hotel . Many a beautiful ball was given here. At that time it had a big balcony where great patriotic speeches were made during the war . After President Lincoln was shot , Mrs . Lincoln stayed here for some time . Each day she was taken across the river to consult with Mrs . Howard , a spiritualist .
