This indenture made this twenty second day of October A.D. 1842, between Asa F. Powers
and Elisabeth Powers his wife, of the one part, and William Hayes of the other part,
Witnesseth, that the said Asa F. Powers and Elisabeth his wife, for and in consideration
of the sum of thirteen dollars and fifty cents dollars, lawful money to them in hand paid,
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, and
confirm unto the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract
or parcel of land, situate and being in the county of Randolph in the State of Illinois and
in the town of Eden in the county and state aforesaid and described as follows namely
lot Nnine in block number eight in this town of Eden and county afore said together with
all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging, or in any wise appertaining. To
have and to hold the above described premises unto the said party of the second part his
heirs and assigns forever. And the said Asa F. Powers and Elisabeth his wife, the
aforesaid premises, unto the said William Hayes his heirs assigns, against the claim or
claims of all and every person whomsoever, do and will warrant and forever defend by
these presents. In witness whereof, the said Asa F. Powers and Elisabeth his wife, of the
first part has hereunto set their hand and seal the day and year above written.

Before me, John Campbell, a Justice of the Peace of the aforesaid county and State
personally appeared. Asa F. Powers the above named grantor, with Elisabeth his wife,
acknowledge the above deed of conveyance to be their voluntary act, for the uses and
purposes therein mentioned. And the said wife of the said_______being by me
examined separate and apart from her husband, and the contents of said Deed being by
me fully read and explained to her, she did declare to me that she did voluntarily and of
her own free will and accord, and as her act and deed, sign, seal, and deliver the said
deed of conveyance to the said William Hayes without any coercion or compulsion from
her husband
