Resolution unanimously adopted by the
City Council of the City of Chicago
May twenty-first, nineteen hundred thirty-four
Whereas, Numerous neighboring towns and cities sent fire-fighting apparatus and firemen into Chicago on the afternoon and evening of Saturday May 19, 1934, to assist Chicago's Fire Department in meeting the extraordinary demands made upon it by reason of the Stock Yards fire, which for a time threatened the entire City of Chicago; and
Whereas, Chicago is deeply appreciative of the spirit of friendly co-operation and humanity which prompted the officials of these sister communities to come to her assistance in her hour of need; therefore be it
Resolved, That the City Council of the City of Chicago hereby expresses Chicago's heartfelt thanks for the evidence of solicitude for Chicago's welfare exhibited, and for the prompt and generous assistance rendered
Resolved, Further, That the City Clerk be, and he is hereby directed to make suitable acknowledgment of the aid so generously and promptly rendered.
