Emily Draper , a most highly esteemed and lovable woman , was known for her flowers , her caring consideration of her neighbors ; and her church and Woman's Club activities. Emily Tilton Bradley Draper was born in Canterbury , New Hampshire , April 11 , 1843 , and moved to Addison , Illinois in 1854. She attended Wheaton College for five years and received her degree in 1864. She taught school for a year during which time she met Daniel Draper. Daniel was born near Mount Clemens , Michigan , in 1934 and his family moved to Elk Grove Township in 1836 , shortly after the earliest settlers. Emily and Daniel were married on June 7 , 1865 , and moved to Arlington Heights. They had one son , Cyrus. Both Daniel and Emily became active in the Presbyterian Church. Daniel , a Justice of the Peace and president of the Board of Education , was the church choir director. Emily was a founder of the Ladies Reading Circle which started the local library. The Reading Circle expanded into the community and became the Arlington Heights Woman's Club , with Emily serving as president for a 19 year span from 1888 to 1906. Emily passed away March 16 , 1919 , four years after Daniel had died on January 11 , 1915. Both are buried in Arlington Heights - Wheeling Township Cemetery.
