Miss Edyth Lyle Allen, director of nurses, and Mrs. S. C. Thomas, superintendent of the Graham hospital, entertained at a mother-daughter banquet on Thursday in honor of the nurses of the September section, 1945 graduating class and their mothers. The broiled steak dinner was served at noon in the hospital dining room where guests were seated at a table decorated with white candles and low bowls of petunias. Following the dinner, the group went to the reception room of the nurses home where a program was presented. Miss Rita Mae Collins opened the program with a welcome; Miss Zelda Fawcett gave “The Life of Florence Nightingale,” and Miss Collins and Miss Freda deGulie sang two duets, “Pilgrim’s Journey” and “Home,” accompanied by Edna Lucille Grove. Miss Naomi Beadles gave a reading and the class will was read by Miss Dorothy Styninger, followed by the song, “Only a Rose,” sung by Mrs. Milbra Turl as she distributed roses to each of her classmates who in turn presented them to their mothers. Mothers present were Mrs. John Tometich, Mrs. Clarence Fawcett of Table Grove, Mrs. Jesse Collins and Mrs. Harry Grove of Astoria, Mrs. Nathan Beadles of Lewistown, Mrs. Joe deGulie of Fairview and Mrs. Charles Turl. Mrs. Esther Carver was a guest.
