Graham Hospital Works on price transparency: As patient out-of-pocket expenditures continue to rise, both patients and providers need transparency in the price of healthcare, particularly regarding patient financial responsibility in consumer-directed and other high-deductible health plans. With the patient’s best interest in mind, Graham Hospital implemented a patient responsibility estimator solution. This tool is an interactive software solution which will be which will be used by Graham’s patient registration staff to provide a quick, real-time estimate of patients’ out-of-pocket expenses—allowing Graham to inform patients of expected costs and collect at time-of-service. Patients will now receive a document called a Patient Responsibility Estimate, explaining how the total amount due was calculated. Estimates are based on the information provided by you and your insurance company at the time of service. Graham Hospital believes a knowledgeable patient is an empowered consumer. Healthcare is an industry which has not traditionally delivered this level of transparency to its consumer until after the service has been rendered. By setting the proper expectation prior to treatment, consumer payment estimates can alleviate your concerns around costs and improve your experience.
