Graham Hospital investing in Fulton Country’s future: Canton hospital opening new physicians center, with plans for additional new facility in Farmington: Graham Hospital has been busy expanding its services in Fulton County, with a new 68,000-square-foot physicians center in Canton and plans to build a new physicians center in Farmington. “It’s 95 percent finished from the outside,” hospital spokeswoman Shelly Bryant said of the new building at Main and Walnut streets in Canton. The four-story building will house 26 physicians’ offices, which will move from their previous location at the existing clinic across the street. The $16 million building replaces the former clinic, which was out of date and out of space. Groundbreaking was 18 months ago, and the grand opening was delayed one month because of weather, Bryant said. But everything is expected to be up and running by Nov. 1. The public was invited to an open house Oct. 27, which allowed residents to acquaint themselves with the new building and find out where each doctor is located. “This $16 million project, funded through Health System operations, will dramatically improve the ‘experience’ for our 85,000-plus patients who receive medical care at Graham Medical Group in Canton,” said hospital President and CEO Bob Senneff. “We are proud to have the ability to undertake this exciting project for our patients and our community.” The funding process was helped along by the city of Canton, which voted last year to issue $32 million in bonds to the hospital so it could build the building and make upgrades to its main campus. Other improvements included upgrades and remodeling to the hospital’s birthing area. “It’s just a more modern birthing area,” Bryant said. The previous décor was sterile and white, while the new look feels more like a home, with private rooms, wood floors and new paint scheme. “It was all terribly outdated,” she said. The hospital is also moving forward with a project that will bring a physicians’ center to Farmington. That building is expected to be open July 1 and will be located at the corner of Elmwood Road and Fort Street, Bryant said. The hospital has a clinic in Farmington, but Senneff previously said the hospital would sell that building. Those physicians, and some additional ones, would then move into the new clinic.
