TRANSITION + PASSAGE INTO ETERNAL LIFE
Services for ELLA McKINNEY were held at the House of Thompson Chapel on Feb. 3. Born Feb. 24, 1887 in Montgomery County, Missippi, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and daughter Mae Trotter. A member of Ebenezer AME Church, in later years when unable to attend her church due to illness, she was comforted by members, and Pastor Mays and members of the Sherman United Methodist Church, neighbors and friends. Sole survivor is her sister, Mary Jones.
Services for HENRY ANDREWS HAMMELL, JR., were held Feb. 4 at Ebenezer AME Church. Born June 10, 1956 in Evanston, Illinois to Henry A. Sr. and Rubye Hammell, he died on Feb. 1 at the Evanston Hospital. A product of Evanston public schools, he completed Triton Junior College where he was on the Dean's List. Not only was he active as the chairman of the ETHS Michael School Principals' Advisory Board and Chairman of the Cross Human Relations Committee; was a participant in football and wrestling, earning the Chicago heavyweight wrestling championship in 1974.
Also he was selected as an All-American honorable mention football candidate while at Triton College; and also a member of Jote Sigma Phi, Chapter II, and the Black Student Organization.
Henry was a group Claims Examiner with Prudential Insurance Company, and a Sales Agent for Prudential and New York Life. He was the youngest person to pass the licensing examination for the State of Illinois Department of Insurance, and as an agent, won several awards for being a multi-million dollar producer. At Advancement, Incorporated, he served as a division manager, having direct supervision over one supervisor and seven consultants in an organization specializing in the executive search and placement of engineers, scientists and technical personnel at the executive level. He worked as a landscaping supervisor assistant with the Summer Youth Employment program of Evanston neighbors at work. He was a Bethel AME Church junior trustee; a youth choir member, and assistant production manager and director of lighting for its youth programs.
Survivors include his wife, Verneva; a daughter, Sheriah Nicole; a son DeJuan Antonio; his parents, Henry Pammel ,Sr. and Rubye; a sister, Andrea Darlene, n brother, Richard Alonzo; aunts Florence Johnson and Harriet Jones of New York, Margaret Inge of Detroit, and Petronia Tucker of Peorin,Ill; an uncle Clarence andrews of Hot Springs, Arkansas; aunt Fannie Bradley of Kansas City l1issouri, and other relatives.
Services for VIOLA A. WILSON were held Feb. 6 at Sherman United Methodist Church. Born Oct. 26, 1910 in Elmwood, Georgia, she died Feb. 3, in St. Francis Hospital. At the age of 14, she moved to Evanston where, for more than 35 years she had served as a member of Sherman Methodist; a member of the Lexington Church Conference before it changed jurisdiction and subsequently became a member of the Northern Illinois An-

nual Conference Representing the Sherman United Methodist Church. For more than 40 years she was the manager of three restaurants.
Survivors include children. Douglas, Edwin, Betty, Raymond, Carolyn, Donald, Kenneth and Phyllis; sister Annie Lee Atkins of Atlanta, Georgia; brother Rubin Lyons of Atlanta; 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; nieces Ludie B. Woods and Lela Johnson, and other relatives.
