Reflections on Veteran’s Military Service:
Mrs. Pekara entered the Women's Army Corps in 1943. Originally trained as a truck driver, she was transferred to the #3110 Signal Corp Battalion as a telephone operator. She still occasionally drove trucks though, and valiantly saved one Major E. Wallace from getting drenched in a rainstorm in Berlin.
Mrs. Pekara, her husband Daniel, son Jerome and daughter Theresa have all served in different branches of the U.S. Military.
