WM100-5544 – Waiver of School Code (Section 17-1.5) request to allow the district to waive the limitation of administrative costs due to circumstances beyond its control. The district plans to retain an administrator previously funded through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) monies to review student assessment data and select curricular areas to be modified. This function remains important for increasing student achievement, and the district also intends to complete a crisis management plan created through the ARRA grant. These additional administrative expenses caused the district’s administrative costs to exceed the 5 percent limitation.
Deer Park CCSD 82 – LaSalle (SD 38/HD 76) / Expiration: 2011-12 school year
WM100-5547 – Waiver of School Code (Section 17-1.5) request to allow the district to waive the limitation of administrative costs due to circumstances beyond its control. The superintendent also serves as transportation director and as principal. District auditors recommended shifting the portion of his salary previously allocated to the Transportation Fund to the Education Fund and to principal costs, because of recent cuts to the transportation budget. The combined effect of these money shifts caused administrative expenses for the district to exceed the 5 percent limitation.

The position of student services director, new in 2011, was initially budgeted for less than a full year. The district is now budgeting the position for a full year; the increase in expenses from the partial-year position has caused administrative expenses for the district to exceed the 5 percent limitation.

For the FY 2011 school year, the district employed an interim superintendent. The hiring of a full-time superintendent with paid benefits for the 2011-2012 school year caused the district’s administrative costs to exceed the 5 percent limitation.
Pope County CUSD 1 – Pope (SD 59/HD 118) / Expiration: 2011-12 school year
WM100-5561 – Waiver of School Code (Section 17-1.5) request to allow the district to waive the limitation of administrative costs due to circumstances beyond its control. The district’s previous superintendent resigned in June and the new superintendent began in August. Administrative costs for FY 2011 reflected only 11 months of superintendent costs, compared to the 12 full months budgeted for FY 2012. This unavoidable budget discrepancy caused the district’s administrative costs to exceed the 5 percent limitation.
