The Plan Administrator for CHIP, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, has the largest participating hospital provider network in the state and over 31,000 participating primary care physicians and specialists. This network has been adopted for use by CHIP. Refer below for a listing by region of participating hospitals in this network. When traveling out-of-state, participants in CHIP Plans will also be able to use the Administrator’s BlueCard PPO program to receive in-network benefits from certain hospitals in these other states. Pre-certification of all hospital confinements is required by CHIP. Its Administrator, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois’ Medical Services Advisor, must be called at 800-232-6179 at least 2 days prior to any scheduled admission. For maximum Plan benefits, be sure to follow CHIP’s MSA calling requirements. Since this list is subject to change periodically, they can also give you up-to-date information as to which hospitals are participating providers at that time.
