OutdoorIllinois February 2008
The National Archery in
Schools Program is a curricu-lum-
based, nationally
acclaimed archery education pro-gram
presented through the physical
education department to grade 4-12
students in more than 140 Illinois
public and private schools.
Since 2003, Illinois sportsmen and
memorabilia collectors have support-ed
NASP through the purchase of
turkey harvest pins. Available for $5
each through the Illinois Conserva-tion
Foundation, pin sales have
amassed a funding base that has sent
teachers to certification workshops
and funded the acquisition of more
than $142,000 worth of archery
equipment provided to schools.
On March 19th, the sixth annual
Illinois state championship will take
place at the Orr Building at the Illinois
State Fairgrounds in Springfield.
School-based teams certified in NASP
will participate in three divisions: Ele-mentary,
Jr. High/Middle School and
High School. Winning teams will be
eligible to compete at the national and
world tournaments later this year.
