DARS Users’ Conference
We strongly encourage all Illinois CAS licensed
institutions (i.e., all CAS Receiving institutions) to
consider sending staff to the Miami University
DARS Users’ Conference. According to Mindy
Aufderheide, DARS Business Relations Associate,
“This conference is for both DARwin and CAS us-ers….
We will be including the
CAS sessions throughout the en-tire
conference this year, and
we look forward to your staff at-tending.”
There is much to gain from at-tending
this conference,
whether you are a DARwin/CAS
institution or a CAS-only institu-tion,
whether you have imple-mented
CAS already or you are
planning for implementation
down the road. The Users’ Con-ference
provides an unparal-leled
opportunity for information exchange, net-working,
and learning. In addition to the DARS
staff members, you will meet staff from institutions
across the country that have done what you are
about to do, whether you are just getting started
or have long ago gone live with CAS and are
working on maintaining or augmenting your im-plementation—
this is a great chance to learn
from experienced and knowledgeable people
whom you can call on later.

Q & A
Q: Even though we are not a DARS school, can
we access Miami University DARS & CAS re-sources?
A: All 18 CAS-licensed Illinois
institutions are DARS clients, re-gardless
of student information
and degree audit systems.
Even if you do not license DARwin, IBHE has pur-chased
the CAS license and has paid the CAS
license maintenance fee on your behalf.
As a CAS licensee, you are able to create a DARS
support account and then access OWL (the DARS
web-based help resource), CAS documentation,
CAS training, etcetera. You will also be able to
attend the DARS-CAS Users' Conference.
If you go to this page:
you will find a form to complete. You'll see in the
"college/school" pull-down that each of the 18
Illinois CAS Receiving institutions is listed.
Once you've created an account you'll have a
user ID and password, and you'll be able to ac-cess
CAS resources.
(CAS Sending institutions are not eligible to create
DARS accounts, which Miami makes available to
institutions that have purchased a license and
who pay license maintenance fees.)
