The first library in Dundee Township was organized in 1873 and it was financed by popular subscription.
It was located in the office of A. S. Hollister with Lucy Blow-Dupre as librarian. A short time later it was moved to the drug store of Dr. Cleveland and Dr. Test, this being a one story building, just east of the present building occupied by the Bond Pharmacy. Here Henry J. Bauman, an apprentice to the doctors served as librarian.
In 1879 the library was moved to the building now occupied by the Bond Pharmacy, which at that time was a new building and Mr. Bauman who operated the drug store there became the first township librarian under the State library law and from that time to the present the library has been supported by taxation.
