Rover's Big Show!
On July 2nd the Chicago
Ridge Park District held its
first annual dog show. Ch-ildren
from ages 6- 12 br-ought
dogs of all shapes,
sizes and forms. After the
animals were judged in se-veral
catagories, including
Best Costume, Best Xook-ing,
Largest Dog, Small-est
Dog, Best Behaved and
Best Trick, the dogs with
the most ribbons were then
awarded the best of the
show.
First place was a white
German shepard named Ego
owned by Lorna Shoemaker
that took two first places for
best behaver and best trick.
Second place was a tie be-tween
a Sanoya named
Tonya owned by Greg Ve-irtine
who took a first for
best behaved and a third
for best looking. The other
second place winner was an
Alaskan Malmute named Ike
owned by Mike Schofield
who took a first for Best
Looking and a third for lar-gest
dog.
Third place as also a tie:
Buck a Shetland Sheepdog
owned by David Roger had
one first place ribbon for
best trick and Buster, a pug,
owned by Julie Rionda, for a
first place ribbon in the best
costume. In all, 42 dogs par-ticipated
in this event.

Gayle DeFries brought along some goodies for her dog,
Boots, who took park in the competiton. Categories included
best costume, best looking, largest dog, smallest dog, best
behaved and best trick dog.
