Dedicate New CRFD Pumper
The dedication of the Chicago Ridge Fire Department's
new rescue squad pumper took place on'Sunday, March
28th in front of the village hall. Attending the dedication
were Mayor Gene Siegel, Trustees Tom Cooper, Chuck
Tokar, Paul La Chance, andSueZelis. Firefighters present
were Chief Bob Miller, Assistant Chief Frank Cardinale,
Deputy Chief Ed Bergdahl and Captain Jim Ebertsch.
Mayor Siegel said that this new piece of equipment de-finitely
makes Chicago Ridge one of the best- equipped
suburban departments in the Chicago area.
Chief Bob Miller stated that the new rescue squad
pumper is the only one of its kind in the world. It was
built to meet the specifications and the needs of the village
fire department.
Included in the equipment of the pumper that was
designed to actually take the place of two fire engines
are a pump, generator for lighting, water supply, a variety
of rescue tools, equipment for salvage purposes, and a
deodorizer and ejector to rid a building of smoke and
odors.
The pumper, deisgned to be the first at the scene of a
fire, provides firefighters with the best and most modern
equipment.
The Chicago Ridge Fire Department now has 56 flrefignt-ers
manning 3 engines, 1 rescue squad pumper, 1 aerial
ladder truck, and 2 ambulances.
