VILLAGE TO BUY LAND FOR PARK
Steps have been taken by
Chicago Ridge to purchaxe
land for a park and recrea-tional
area, it was disclosed
this week.
At a recen special meet-ing,
held jointly between the
Chicago Ridge village board
and the Chicago Ridge Park
board it was decided to make
a firm offer to purchase nea-rly
four acres of land at
107th street and Menardave.
Based on prices submitt-ed
by an independent appra-isor,
officials indicated they
might make a firm offer of
$ 20,072 for the property. The
land is owned by Wiegel and
Killgallen real estate comp-any.
The tract consists of 11
lots, comprising 3.7 acres
and one of the few local
sites available for park pur-poses.
Members of the Khoury
league have been urging offi-cials
to purchase land for a
baseball park.
Chicago Ridge
The real state boom in
the village, plus other build-ing,
has used up most of the
vacant land suitab*^ for park
purposes experts said. Off-icials
had to move immedia-tely
or the last remaining va-cant
land was in danger of
being sold.
Village President Arthur
Coope said the board has
been deeply concerned over
the lack of recreational sp-ace*.
