All About the Community Club
It all began when or after we had formed a first aid class at the
school 1942. After the first aid class Mrs Ammerman suggested we
start the community club to keep us all together because we all got
along together and had such a good time. Brunt Duchivity was
Mayor and was very helpful in helping to get people to come
Mrs Klee was very helpful too she had the village store here then
So then we helped by sending packages to Boys in service. Mr Wm
Walsh was prodably the biggest helper in that.
We had Easter egg hunts The egg were hid in an open field at
103 & Ridgland it is now all apts. We had 4 mos paries too. We
started the Boy scouts with Mr. Whittin as leader or scout master
We held picnics in Palchows grove to help the Base ball team they had
ask us to handle the money & too sponsor them. Mrs Klee kept the money
in her safe as well as other money when we had much around. We
cleared $ 250.00 for the Baseball team. We gave a minstrel too which was a
riot. We baked stacks of cookies for gift, for the boys in service and got
small gifts and sent the village paper to them Then we built a memorial
for the boys with all thier names on it. After we that was built at 106 and
Oxford and later moved to the Glen Maker Past. The Club was invited
to the dedication and we gave them I believe 1100.00 Dollars toward
the building It would be impossible to tell you all the names that
helped out in this club after so many years. But the town was
small then and nearly every one had some part in it I would Say
it was a very succesfull Club.
