Laura Imogene Schanck wore this straw hat, decorated with feathers and ribbons, when she married Dr. John Lincoln Taylor on June 1, 1895. The wedding took place at the home of Laura's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Schanck, who lived on Sprague Street, now Cook Avenue in Libertyville. John was known as "the country doctor" in Lake County and also served as the county coroner for 43 years. Laura was involved in many civic activities including the Libertyville Women's Club. The Taylors had three children, Frances Marjory, Marian Gordon and Laura Jeanette, and they lived in a beautiful Victorain house at 128 East Broadway in Libertyville.
