#001 The Worlds Congress Auxiliary Scrapbook, p. 0688 EXPLANATORY NOTES. 1. The Agricultural Exhibit of the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893, will be held in appropriate buildings at Jackson Park. The World's Congresses, including those in the Department of Agriculture, will be held in the permanent Memorial Art Palace to be erected on the shore of Lake Michigan near the heart of the City of Chicago. While the exhibition of Agricultural products will be wholly distinct from the Agricultural Con- gresses, each has, and will continue to have the hearty sympathy and support of those engaged in the conduct of the other. 2. It is understood that the Exposition authorities have decided to provide in the Agricultural Building at Jackson Park, suitable rooms in which the various Agricultural Societies may have headquarters during the Exposition season, with an audience room capable of seating perhaps twelve or fifteen hundred persons, where those interested may consider in their own way, and at their own convenience, such subjects, for example, as the Rotation of Crops; The Treatment of Particular Soils; The Various Methods of Cultiva- tion for Particular Crops; Stock Breeding and Feeding; Farm Fences; Farm Buildings and kindred topics. 3. It is also understood that the General Agricultural Congresses will probably be limited to a period of perhaps two weeks in the month of October, and that they will consist of Special Congresses, representing particular occu- pations or organizations, and of General Congresses, in which representatives of all the various Agricultural interests will unite in presenting to the world the most important general subjects embraced in this Department. 4. The Objects of the World's Congress Auxiliary are briefly set forth in an accompanying document. Benjamin Butterworth. Charles C. Bonney, Secretary. World's Congress Auxiliary. World's Congress Headquarters, Chicago, January, 1892.
