#005 World Congress of Religious Bound Correspondence, p. 368 Tower Hill, Hillside, Wisconsin. Rev. W.I. Nichols, Philadelphia, Pa. Dear Nichols:-- This notice will explain itself. We can hardly expect to get you to Chicago. Send your suggestions. One of the things which we will hope to develop probably will be a scheme for a series of State or even more local Congresses which will, after the spirit of the Chicago meeting, bring like minded people of different names together. I am writing all our Directors. Wright and Crowe have a feeling and hops that the next annual meeting will be in New York City, and we in Chicago will be very happy if we can further that scheme. I have written Bisbee and Salter of Philadelphia, as I write you, wondering if that City of Brotherly Love is not the place where, sometime during the next winter, there may be held a Liberal Congress in truth and in deed, a meeting of two-days, dignity, in which large and fundamental questions will be considered, but the greater significance of which will be in the truly representative character of those who take part,- Jew, Gentile, Christian and Ethical Culture, noble preach- ers, earnest laymen, laying aside the denominational anxieties and sectarian itch to consider what can we do together for the re- demption of Society. You are strong in Philadelphia. If Bisbee and Salter and you, all Directors of the National Congress, can see it possible to develop a scheme of this kind, you will find the general officers very, very willing to help. If you cannot come, let us hear from you. Brotherly yours, September 6, 1894.
