#002 The Worlds Columbian Exposition Scrapbook, 338 It is not intended to make a scheme or statement exhaustive of the subject but simply to classify and enumerate possible exhibits in sufficient detail to indicate the ground that can be covered by such a display. Under each of the several headings, Derivative Material, Extraction, and Applications, will be specified the materials and products which would form interesting and valuable components in a metallurgical col- lection for each metal largely used in the arts. COPPER. 1. Minerals and Ores. Under this division should not be shown general or unique minerals, but only those of special significance and value in the metallurgy of copper, such as native copper, cuprite, chalcopyrite, malachite, etc. 2. Extraction Samples. Milling and Separating. Crushed rock for sieving. Heads from mortar. Several qualities of material from hydraulic separator. Copper from roughing jig. Sulphide Concentrates. Ragging. Tailings. Hutchwork. Three, four, and five copper. Tailings from buddle. By Smelting. Prepared ore mixtures. Intermediate products. Matte. Blue metal matte. White metal matte. Roaster slag. Furnace slag. Slag from Bessemerizing matte. Flue dust. Final products. Blister copper. Argentiferous copper from converter. Ingot copper. By Wet Process. Prepared ores. Roasted ore. Blue billy. 10
