[American Flag] KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS WAR ACTIVITES [Knights of Columbus Logo] CAMP Jefferson Barracks , Mo Oct 10 , 1918 Return to desk Dear Sir , Well , Colonel , I suppose you have began to think I have forgotten you but I haven’t . I have looked for a letter from you every since I got back , but I haven’t got any yet . What is the news around Clinton these days ? Have you got the “flu” yet ? I sure hope none of them around there get it very bad as it goes pretty hard with a person if it turns into pneumonia . There are about 1 , 000 cases here in the hospital at present . The camp is quarantined so that no one can come in or we can’t go out . I like army life fine but will be glad when we get through with “Fritz” and we can all come back . The war news looks good and I think it will soon [Page 2] [American Flag] KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS WAR ACTIVITES [Knights of Columbus Logo] CAMP __________ 191_______ be over . Father , mother and Arthur were up and spent the day with me Wednesday and I sure was glad to see them. Why can’t you come up some time Colonel ? I was Guarding prisoners all last week and this week I have been Guarding one of the main gates to the camp . I have to search every car that comes into the Barracks for Booze and Cameras . Sunday I got ten cameras , but no “booze” . I will drill next week and maybe the next week too . They say that we will be shipped out of here the last of the month , but I don’t know whether we will or not. There have been about 7,000 Limited Service men come in there the last two weeks and I guess they [Page 3] [American Flag] KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS WAR ACTIVITES [Knights of Columbus Logo] CAMP __________191_________ are going to take our places . I had a chance to go to the officers’ training school , but I thought I would stay a private awhile until I learnt a little more about it . Well Colonel I expect you are tired reading this and I haven’t anything interesting news to tell you , so I will ring off for tonight . I would be glad to hear from you and any of the other people from Clinton . Hoping this finds you well . With best regards I remain your friend , Harry Miller Harry E .
