Charlotte Ptashne ,,HARLOTTE PTASHNE SENTINEL TRAVEL BUREAU Director 139 North Clark .... Dearborn 6330 I WOMEN'S WORLD Lying-In Mother's Aid In Mother's Day Celebration Claiming the distinction of being one of the first to celebrate Mother's Day, the Mothers' Aid of the Chicago Lying-in hospital will hold its 32nd Annual Mother's Day Party on May 3. The group's second claim to distinction is that its initial Mother's Day celebration was held to honor a man-the late Dr. Joseph B. De Lee, the man to whom all women are indebted for safe journey in childbirth. The celebration will be in the form of a luncheon at the Stevens hotel Boulevard room; entertainment by the current Iceland Fantasies. Mrs. Harry Gibbs, president of Mothers' Aid, reports that all of the proceeds of the business ventures of Mothers' Aid, entirely engineered by volunteers, produce thousands of dol-lars annually for the Lying-in hospital and toward the $250,000 chair of ob-stetrics recently established by them at the University of Chicago. This year Mothers' Aid contributed $16,000 to the chair of obstetrics, alone. One of the continuing sources of rev-enue is the Gift shop in the Lying-in hospital, prepared by volunteers under the leadership of Mrs. Morris Fishbein. Mothers' Aid is the publisher of "Our Baby's First Seven Years," the famous baby record book of which 99,000 cop-ies were sold this year. This baby rec-ord book, sold in book departments and book stores throughout the country, competes with the best sellers on the the market year after year. All the money from its sale goes toward the Mothers' Aid projects in the hospital. A classroom for new mothers, on the care of the baby, was furnished by Mother's Aid this year. Betty Stone Memorial Group Hears Dr. Cutler Dr. Max Cutler, medical director of the Chicago Tumor Institute met and talked with the alumnae of the North-western university chapter of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Van Morris, 4300 Ma-rine drive. The group presented Dr. Cutler with a check, contributing to the work of the Tumor Institute. The contribution was made in the name of the Betty Stone Morris Mem-orial Fund for cancer research, and was raised by the sorority alumnae of which Betty Stone Morris was a mem-ber, and by her family and friends. Mrs. Morris died of cancer at the age of 29 after having been married for only two months.
