Fishbein The Sentinel 511 S. Sangamon St., Chicago. My dear Mr. Fishbein: Will you not let me tell you how much I appreciate your article of Feb-ruary 3, It is well and understandingly put. I may have occasion to say some-thing more about it. With warmest regard and all good wishes, Faithfully yours, Stephen S. Wise. DR. SILVER'S GREETINGS ARRIVED TOO LATE FOR LAST WEEK'S ISSUE The Sentinel:- I join the host of Dr. Wise's friends throughout the world in sending him my warmest felicitations on the oc-casion of his 70th anniversary. Would that this significant occasion could have been celebrated in a quieter and happier hour for our people and for the world. All those ideals and objec-tives for which Dr. Wise has worked with such rare gifts and such bound-less energies throughout his great career are now passing through the crisis of battle-democracy, human freedom, social justice, world organiza-tion, justice to the Jews, and the re-building of Israel's national life in Eretz Yisrael. We pray that a speedy Allied victory may hasten the fulfill-ment of some of these great ideals for which Dr. Wise has so valiantly striven, and will crown an extraordinary career of loyalty and service. Dr. Wise has written a significant chapter in Ameri-can Jewish history, a chapter, fortu-nately, far from closed Od Yenuvun Be'sevah. Abba Hillel Silver. PROFESSOR RALPH MARCUS TO ADDRESS COLLEGE OF JEWISH STUDIES Dr. Ralph Marcus, for many years Professor at Columbia University and the Jewish Institute of Religion of New York, and now Professor of Hellenistic Culture of the University of Chicago, will address the Open Forum of the College of Jewish Studies, on Saturday evening, March 25, 8 p. m., in Bialik Hall, 220 South State Street. The subject of the Forum will be, "Is There Hope for Jewish Survival in America?" and will be followed by a discussion from the audience. Others who will participate in the Forum are Dr. Fritz Bamberger, member of the faculty of the College of Jewish Stud-ies, and Dr. Leo L. Honor, executive director of the Board of Jewish Educa-tion. Dr. Samuel M. Blumenfield, Dean of the College, will act as Moderator. There will also be a program of music by Lola Rand, vocalist. Refresh-ments will be served by a committee of hostesses, consisting of June Ann Stewart, chairman, Esther Prank, Joyce Goldman, Iris Krause, Muriel Morris, Rachel Nadoff, and Leah Perlstein. LIKED THE SPECIAL WISE ISSUE Mr. Jack Fishbein and Mr. Jack Feldman The Sentinel, Chicago. Dear Friends: I was thrilled to read your issue of March 17, dedicated to Dr. Stephen S. Wise. I feel that you did an excellent job in presenting this great man in all the phases of his endeavors. As a mem-ber of the Congress, and as one who admires Dr. Wise very much, I am per-sonally appreciative and indebted to you for your understanding and co-operation. My husband and I are just leaving for a three week trip to the Pacific Coast, and I hope on my return to see you personally. With every good wish, I am Sincerely yours, Mrs, Robert L. Aronson, President, Chicago Women's Division, American Jewish Congress. COOPERATION IS APPRECIATED Dear Mr. Fishbein: I should like to take this opportun-ity of expressing my personal thanks to you for your helpfulness in taking part in our recent balloting for a suit-able slogan for the 1944 United Jewish Appeal Campaign.
