THE SENTINEL January 27, 1944 ONGRATULATIONS and best wishes are being extended to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob G. Grossberg of the Piccadilly Hotel on the occasion of their Golden wedding anniversary, Sunday, January 30. They will be at home on that day from 4 p. m. to 10 p. m. MR. AND MRS. JACOB G. GROSSBERG The Grossbergs have four children, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Grossberg of Glencoe, who have a son, Edmund, now in Italy, and a daughter, Marilyn, who is attending University of Los Angeles, California; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Grossberg of New York City; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert E. Grossberg of this city and Mrs. Fred Whitesell of El Cerrito, California. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Kantor of Kenilworth Avenue, Winnetka entertained Lt. Richard Ritman during his 10 day leave last week. Lt. Ritman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Rit-man, prominent communal leaders. Mr. and Mrs. G. Schwartz of Lake Shore Drive have just returned from the Arizona Bilt-more in Phoenix, Arizona, where they have been for the past three weeks. Mrs. Ethel Kohn has left the city for Minne-apolis, Minnesota where she will visit her chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Klein. Mrs. Lester S. Abelson of the Shoreland Ho-tel left for Mexico on New Year's Day and is expected home the end of January. Mrs. Jack Manfield of 442 Wellington Ave-nue is leaving for Phoenix, Arizona. Richard Feldman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Feldman of 4741 Monticello Avenue, left for the Army on January 21. Dick was one of the winners of the 1943 Bomber Award presented by the Aleph Zedek Aleph for the sale of the greatest amount of war bonds. He sold $150,000.00 worth of bonds. His brother Marvin is stationed somewhere in England and is a member of the paratroopers. Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Seidenberg of Brook-line, Massachusetts, announce the marriage of their daughter, Eunice Jane to Ensign Gerald F. Bordan, U.S.N.R., son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Bordan of this city. The marriage took place on January 15, at Norfolk, Virginia, at Beth-El Temple with Rabbi Reich officiating. Dr. and Mrs. J. S. Lebow of 6038 N. Mozart Street announce the graduation of their son, Irwin, from Lane Technical High School, Janu-ary 27. Irwin had been an honor student throughout his four years, devoting two of his years to editing the sport column for the school paper. He is planning to attend Armour Insti-tute where he will study engineering. Mrs. Sam Gold of 511 Brompton Place, and her daughter, Arlene Jacqueline have just left for Los Angeles, California, where they will spend the winter at the Hotel Ambassador. Gordon Gold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gold is back at Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wiscon-sin, after spending the holidays in Chicago with the family. ARLENE JACQUELINE GOLD Miss Helene Finkelstein of 5119 N. Kenmore Avenue who will become the bride of Mr. Frank Schaffer of Alexandria, Minnesota, on February 6, was entertained by Miss Evelyn Friedman last Thursday evening at Miss Fried-man's home. Mrs. H. Schwab had a luncheon on Saturday, January 22, in honor of the bride-to-be and Mrs. Paul Fligelman enter-tained on Tuesday evening for Miss Finkel-stein. Mr. Schaffer surprised his fiancee when lie flew to this city this last week end. Mrs.. Jacob Shapiro of 3800 Lake Shore Drive has recently returned from a two months' trip on the West Coast. While on the West Coast, Mrs. Shapiro visited with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kresh of Hol-lywood, California, and with her son-in-law and daughter, Captain and Mrs. E. S. Feinstein of Ogden, Utah, where Captain Feinstein is sta-tioned with the Judge Advocates' Office. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Liebschutz of 115 Bert-ling Lane held Open House for their friend, and family in honor of their son. Lt. Lteonard Liebschutz, who is home on leave after having graduated and received his wings January 15, from the West Texas Bombardier Quadraing]e school of the Army Air Forces. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Cannon of Jackson Boulevard have their son-in-law and daughteer, Lt. and Mrs. Julius Sher visiting with themu from Baltimore, Maryland, where Lt. Sher iis stationed with the Medical Corps. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Davidson, 1605 High-land Avenue, Wilmette, spent the week-end of January 8, with their son, Don, who is in the V-12-A training course at Newberry College in Newberry, South Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Feinberg of the Lake Shore Drive Apartments are returning home from Tucson, Arizona, after visiting their uncle, Mr. M. Schanhouse. Mrs. Jules Simon of the Pearson Hotel is headed for the Southwest for a stay of a few weeks. Mrs. Cecile Blatt of Los Angeles, California, visited here with her friend Miss Faye Markin before leaving to join her husband who is sta-tioned near New Orleans. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Rapp of Beverly Hills, California, creator of the Fanny Brice radio hour, is visiting Mrs. Rapp's mother. Mrs. Anna Fishbein, 7631 Cornell Avenue.
