The resolution, copies of which have been sent to President Harding, Secretary of State Hughes and other public officials, make specific reference to Polish misrule in Vilna in the following terms: The Polish General, Zeligowski, in-vaded and took possession of Vilna, the ancient capital of Lithuania, and the surrounding territory in the summer of 1920, in violation of the Polish- Lithuanian treaty, and is still in pos-session regardless of the repeated rul-ings of the Council of the League of Nations and the affirmation of the League itself that Vilna is Lithuanian territory. Instead of complying with these decisions of the Council of the League of Nations, Polish authorities at Vilna have imprisoned prominent Lithuanians under their jurisdiction; have closed all Lithuanian newspa-pers; Polish armed po)lice attacked Lithuanian high schools, placing the teachers under arrest and violently ejecting the students, kicking them, striking them with their guns and fists, injuring many, and the same police forcibly ejected the children from the Lithuanian orphanages, even driving the children from private homes for orphaned children; closed the Lith-uanian banks, confiscating their con-tents; closing the Lithuanian Trading Company, an American corporation, and perpetrated many outrages and abuses, thus provoking a situation which might lead to a repetition of pogroms or wholesale murder." HIAS INITIATES AMERICANIZA-TION CAMPAIGN. New York (J. P. This step was taken so as to avoid a repetition of the unfortunate experiences of some emigrants, who after crossing the ocean, were sent back because they did not possess the necessary papers. ZIONIST ANSWERS LUDEN-DORFF'S ACCUSATIONS. Berlin (J. T. A.).-The local "Vos-sische Zeitung" prints an article by a Zionist author, answering the accusa-tions made against Jews by General Ludendorff in his book, "War and Pol-itics." The writer declares that the arguments presented in Ludendorff's book regarding the part played by Jews in the World War and their de-mands with regard to Palestine are highly fantastic and without founda-tion. LEMBERG COLLECTS TWO MIL-LION MARKS FOR KEREN HAYESOD. Vienna (J. T. A.).-The visit of the Tchortkover Rabbi to Lemberg on behalf of the Keren Hayesod of Pal-estine resulted in the collection of two million mark for that fund. 80% OF JEWISH WORKINGMEN IN WARSAW UNEMPLOYED. Warsaw (J. T. A.).-The economic crisis in Poland has hit especially hard the Jewish workingmen in Warsaw, 80% of whom, it is estimated, are out of employment. It is known that at least four-fifths of the Jewish laborers in the leather trade are idle; likewise 70% of workingmen in the spinning and weaving industry, and 80% of the Jewish cloakmakers. Conditions in other fields are no brighter. The Jew-ish co-operative stores are doing their best to alleviate the suffering, but lim-ited resources make their activities in-significant as compared with the im-mensity of the distress. It is feared that unless the general economic situa-tion in Poland improves appreciably, the Jewish labor element, in the larger towns especially, will be faced with a very terrible crisis. GOVERNMENT RECOGNIZES JEW-ISH NATIONAL VERBAND. Vienna (J. T. A.).-The Governor of Klausenberg has sent a statement to the Jewish press, declaring that the Roumanian government has recognized Sthe Jewish National Council of Sieden- Sburgen as the legal representative of the Jews of that province because it is the organized expression of the major-ity of its Jews. 200 CHALUZIM BARRED FROM PALESTINE BECAUSE OF $3,200. S Bucharest (J. T. A.).-200 Chalu- , zim from Ukraine, prepared and ready - to enter Palestine, are held up at SGalatz, in Roumania, on account of - the small sum of $3,200 which must be paid to the Roumanian Government for the 200 visas.
