International Auxiliary of the Marks Nathan Jewish Orphan Home-On Tuesday, April 28, a party was ten-dered to the children of the Home by the children of the International Aux-iliary honor roll, in the Synagogue of the Marks Nathan Orphan Home. The splendid program included the boys' band of the Marshall High school and entertainment by Miss Dorothy Man-ning. This occasion marked the fourth anniversary of the children's honor roll, which has a membership of one hundred and fifty. Mrs. Harry Mandel-stain, the founder of the group, was in charge of arrangements, and was being assisted by Mrs. J. Harris, Mrs. Sieg. Natenberg and Mrs. S. Harris. A regular meeting will take place Tues-day, May 12, at 1.30 p. m. in hall A-4, 9th floor, Masonic Temple, 32 West Randolph street. A house warming will open the activities in the new quarters with an interesting program followed by refreshments. The guest speaker will be Rabbi Kadushin of the Hum-boldt Boulevard Temple. Mrs. Louis Ecker and daughter, Bernice, will en-tertain with several vocal selections. The hostesses of the day will be the Mesdames Nathan Goldblatt, A. Zel-ens, A. Weiss, H. Rubin, and Mrs. David Leader, president. A board meeting will also be held at Gimbel's Cafe, 32 West Randolph street, at 10:30 a. m. of the same day. Mrs. M. Penchina is chairman of the closing event of the season, which will be in the form of a card card party and tea on Wednesday, June 3 at 2 p. m. in the grand ball room of the Parkway hotel. The Mesdames S. Harris, J. J. Luster, J. Golin, N. Goldblatt, P. Har-ris and L. B. Harris are included in the committee. National Council of Jewish Women -The officers and out-going and in-coming directors entertained the na-tional president, Mrs. J. Friend, at luncheon at the Standard Club, on Friday, May 1, at 12:30 p. m. Short addresses were made by Mrs. Josenh Friend, Mrs. Gerson B. Levi, Mrs. Hannah Solomon, Mrs. William Cowan, Mrs. Barbe, Mrs. I. Reis, and Mrs. S. Alschuler. The program of the afternoon was in charge of Mrs. I. Reis. Twenty-six directors, each representing a letter in the alphabet, in rhyme, portrayed the work of the council; a violin solo was given by Mrs. Harry Canmann, accompanied by Mrs. Kusel; a vocal number was rendered by Mrs. William Cowan, ac-companied by Mrs. Schram; and a piano selection was given by Mrs. Schram. Chicago Section, Council of Jewish Women-The annual meeting will be held Monday, May 11, at 2 p. m. at Curtiss Hall, 410 South Michigan av-enue. The officers will make the an-nual report, and election of officers and board of directors will be held. On the rvrogram will be the council play and musical numbers by mem-bers. Sisterhood Agudath Achim North Shore Congregation-A special meet-ing will be held Monday, May 11, at 2 p. m. in the Community Hall of the Synagogue, 5029 Kenmore avenue. Election of officers will take place. The minute card party will take place Tuesday, June 2 at 2 p. m. in the Community Hall. The captains of the gold mine drive will be the hostesses of the afternoon. Sisters of Fidelity-A regular meet-ing took place Wednesday, May 6, at 2 p. m. at the Capitol building, Room 512. Dora Perry is the president. Jewish Big Sisters-A regular meet-ing was held Tuesday, May 5, at the La Salle hotel at 8 p. m. On Friday, April 24, ninety children were the guests of the organization at the cir-cus. Mrs. Jacob L. Smith was chair-man of the event. THE SENTINEL Chicago Philanthropic Club-Prep-arations are now centering on the twenty-five dollar plate luncheon which is to be held at the Blackstone hotel on Monday, May 11. Governor. Louis L. Emmerson and President Rob-ert Maynard Hutchins of the Univers-ity of Chicago will be the principal speakers. On Friday May 1, the in-coming and outgoing officers held a luncheon at the Standard Club at 12:30 p. m. On May 4, the South Side Sewing Unit of the Chicago Philan-thropic Club, had the North Side Sew-ing Unit of the same organization as guests at a luncheon at the K. A. M. Temple at 12 noon. Mrs. B. Samuels and Miss Cornelia Hirsch, chairman and secretary of the South Side Unit presided. These units, which are under the direction of Miss Helen Franken-stein, have been sewing all winter for the Home Finding Children's Unit.
