"THE GIRL I LOVE" HELD OVER AT THE LAWNDALE Because of the warm response which "The Girl I Love" received from their joyous audiences last week, the Lawn-dale theater is holding the show over for another week. This colorful oper-etta by Isidor Lillien is being produced by Samuel Auerbach, who heads an all-star cast at the Yiddish theater. The choral numbers are so melodious and the tunes so catchy that numer-ous encores had to be given. Don't miss it this week at the Lawndale. JEWISH PEOPLE'S INSTITUTE The Institute Lecture Forum on Wednesday evenings from November 9 to February 1 will include ten sessions of debates and lectures. The season will begin with a debate between Pro-fessor A. E. Haydon of the University of Chicago and Dr. Edward N. School-man, well known psychiatrist and lec-turer. The subject of their debate will be: "What does humanity need most today-Mental development or econom-ic reorganization?" Dr. Schoolman will take the side of mental development and Professor Haydon of economic re-organization. Among the other lec-turers of the Forum will be Norman Thomas, Professor Morris R. Cohen, Dr. Frank Bohn, Dr. Charles Ober-meyer, Kirby, and Dr. Solomon B. Freehof. On October 25 Dr. Lionel Ruby of the University College will discuss the beginnings of modern science in the new world view of the Renaissance. A course in advertising and market-ing will be offered under the personal direction of an instructor who is an authority on advertising. An all-Jewish orchestra has been or-ganized at the Institute to give young Jewish men and women an opportunity to study good symphonic music. This orchestra meets under the direction of William Goldstein, with Adolph Pick, the musical director of the Institute, as general supervisor. Rehearsals are held every Monday evening. The Institute art school, which was disbanded during the summer, has re-sumed its class meetings under the di-rection of Abraham Weiner, well known Chicago Jewish artist. Work will be offered in composition, design-ing, water coloring, oil painting, mod-eling, poster making, and the like. REPRESENTATIVES OF 250 WOM-EN'S ORGANIZATIONS MEET TO DISCUSS CHANUKAH FESTIVAL Representatives of more than 250 women's organizations in the city will meet on Monday afternoon, October 31, at 2 o'clock, at the Covenant Club, in preparation for the All-Chicago Chanukah Festival which is to be held at the Chicago Stadium on Sunday evening, December 25, the second day of Chanukah. Mrs. Benjamin Schip-man, chairman of the Women's Divi-sion, will preside and the speakers will include Dr. A. E. Abramowitz, Jacob M. Braude and Meyer W. Weisgal. DEMOCRATIC WOMEN'S HEAD-QUARTERS For the convenience of all women voters interested in Judge Henry Hor-ner and his associates, the Women's Division, Volunteer Workers, have es-tablished headquarters in the outlying residence districts as well as in the downtown district.
