NEW YORK STATE ENACTS LAW ON KOSHER MEAT SALE IN RESTAURANTS ALBANY, N. Y. (J. T. A.)-Flor-ence E. S. Knapp, Secretary of State, made public the text of the amend-ment to the New York State penal law with regard to the sale of kosher meat in restaurants, which became a law on April 9, 1926, and was ap-proved by the governor. The amendment reads as follows: A person who with intent to de-fraud, sells or exposes for sale in any restaurant or other place where food products are sold for consumption on the premises, any article of food or food preparations and falsely repre-sents the same to be kosher or as .having been prepared in accordance with the Orthodox Hebrew religious requirements; or sells or exposes for sale in such restaurant or such other place both kosher and non-kosher food or food preparations for consumption on the premises not prepared in ac-cordance with the ritual or not sanc-tioned by the Hebrew Orthodox re-ligious requirements and who fails to display on his window signs and all display advertising in block letters at least four inches in height. 'kosher and non-kosher food served here" shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. "This act shall take effect immedi-ately." DR. KAHN ARRIVES IN WARSAW TO STUDY SITUATION OF POLISH TOWNS WARSAW (J. T. A.)-Dr. Bernard Kahn, European representative of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, arrived here. Dr. Kahn's visit to Poland is for the purpose of studying the situation in the provincial towns. He will, during his three weeks' stay, visit Lodz, Bialo-stok, Vilna and Eastern and Western Galicia. He will report the result of his studies to the headquarters of the J. D. C. in New York. STORRS GIVEN HIGHER POST IN CYPRUS LONDON (J. T. A.)-Sir Ronald Storrs, governor of Jerusalem, will re-sign his port to assume a new position in Cyprus. By an order of the King, Sir Ronald was appointed Governor and Com-mander- in-Chief of Cyprus, succeeding Sir Malcolm Stevenson, whose term expires shortly.
