Benny Meroff is staging an un-usually interesting program next week, which includes Chas. Wilkins, Sol Dorfman, Chicago's champion pianist and winner of Herald-Examiner city-wide piano contest; Rosalyne Tureck, winner of the second division of that contest, and others. On the screen will be "The Secret Studio" with Olive Borden and a distinguished cast. MEET CHARLES-THE GREAT-AT THE MARBRO NEXT WEEK Charles Kaley, exclusive Columbia Recording Artist, grows in popularity with each week at both Marks Bros.' theaters, the Granada and Marbro, particularly with the fairer sex. He is a finished showman, an Adonis in looks and has a winning personality that radiates refinement and culture. CHARLES KALEY Charley's stage production at the Marbro next week will be "Sunshine Days" with Gardner and Douglas, Carroll and Grady, Shelton Brooks and Ollie Powers, Nit and Cinns and others. Olive Borden, the brilliant young actress, stars in Fox comedy drama, "The Secret Studio," which is fea-tured on the screen at the Marbro next week. Miss Borden is ably sup-ported by a distinguished cast. COLLEEN MOORE'S NEW LAUGH SUCCESS IS UPTOWN OFFER-ING Colleen Moore's liveliest picture in years, "Naughty But Nice," will occupy the screen at the Uptown theater starting Monday with Colleen cast as the prudish and timorous student in a girls' school, where the ultra-modern misses both shock and charm her. And then there will be a huge In-dependence Day stage show that will accompany this feature. Benny Krueger and the bunch are going to shout a star-spangled welcome to the grand and glorious Fourth. Commutes Sentence of Worker KOVNO (J. T. A.)-The death sen-tence of Henech Segalowitch was com-mutted to imprisonment for 20 years. Segalowitch was sentenced to death on the charge of "Communism." Clemency was granted by the Lithuan-ian president. MEETING OF BUCK'S LUCKY CLUI A SUCCESS "Verne" Buck certainly startei something when he called the firs meeting of the "Verne Buck Luck: Club" to order and announced tha regular Sunday afternoon meeting would be held during the first per formance. Right off the bat six o: the first members stepped out on thi stage and for quite a while kept thing humming. Buck's show next week at the Sheri dan theater will be "Navy Blues," an( on the screen "Captain Salvation." SEASON'S COMEDY HIT "ROOKIES," AT CHICAGO "Rookies," featuring Karl Dan< and George K. Arthur, comes to the Chicago theater starting this Monday "Rookies" tells an exceedingly amus ing tale of life in a citizens' military training camp. Boris Petroff's "Sports Revue" is the Publix stage attraction. Basket ball, football, boxing are some of the sports indulged in and demonstrated for the delectation of the audience. In addition to the above attractions there will be a H. Leopold Spitalny orchestral production, "1917," in cele-bration of Independence Day. WARING'S PENNSYLVANIANS, FAMOUS COLLEGE BAND, HEAD TIVOLI BILL Next week's program at the Tivoli theater brings back Waring's Pennsyl-vanians, billed as "The Orchestra In-comparable." Clara Bow in "Rough House Rosie," completes the program. The star is an East Side girl with an intense de-sire to be a "lady." PAUL POKES FUN AT GOLFERS IN ORIENTAL SHOW "Goofy Golfers" is the name Paul has given his stage production for the week beginning Monday, June 27, and Goofy Golfers will be raked over the coals, caricatured, satirized, and bur-esqued. In addition to the elaborate stage show in which Ash promises a rare surprise treat for his many fans, by bringing back one of the biggest fa-vorites of the Oriental theater, Paul has arranged for the motion picture comedy drama, "The World at Her Feet," with Florence Vidor in the stellar role. NEW DANCE IS INTRODUCED AT PALACE They are dancing the "Gigolo" and :eaching it, too, at the New Palace this week. When he owners called in Arab strike-reakers, the Jewish strikers en-eavored to prevent them from work-ig. In the quarrel which ensued, British olicemen beat the strikers and made 2 arrests.
