Any person who is interested in the attainment of remarkable results through the application of efficiency engineering principles and scientific equipment will delight in a visit to the new corporation's first "Palace of Service" at 5719 Broadway, or its second super-station to be opened Saturday, August 31, at 6919 Stony Island avenue. Here, in 11 minutes' time, an'auto-. mobile on a continuous conveyor auto-matic type goes through the hands of ten crews of men handling scientific high pressure washing and cleaning equipment, and comes out shining like a new dime inside and out, thor-oughly cleaned to the most concealed inner crevice. To the visitor coming into the "palace of service" the scene in the luxurious reception rooms is more that of a social event than one of so practical and utilitarian a nature. It is more like a visit to an exclusive club than any idea you can possibly gain through this limited description. Undoubtedly you want to know what far-seeing, active minds have conceived this delightful welcome to those who need automobile servicing. The names of the men at the head of Super-Service Stations, Inc., are too well known to need identification-leaders in financial and industrial circles. Burton Mudge, pioneer manufac-turer of railroad equipment, former chairman of the Board of Mudge & Company, and formerly executive vice president of the Bradford Corpora-tion, member of the Chicago Athletic Association, Mid-Day, Tavern and Knollwood Country Clubs, is president and director. He is also a member of the Advertising Men's Post No. 38, American Legion, also Military Order of the World War, for officers only, Reserve Officers' Association of the United States, 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, and one of Chicago's finest type of citizen. Major Goodwin has achieved success in every line he has undertaken. Edward R. Litsinger, prominent banker, lawyer and business man, chairman of the Board of Review of Cook County, is the general counsel and director. Burton Mudge, Jr., with the brokerage house of Norris & Kenley, is also a vice president and director. John Gowan-Stobo is the comptroller and a director. Leslie C. C., Aug. 25.-The state department to-night received a cablegram from Paul Knabenshue, American con-sul at Jerusalem, sent at 7 o'clock last night, indicating that the disturbance there between Arabs and Jews had become steadily worse during the pre-vious twenty-four hours. While the consul gave details of sporadic clashes and out-breaks between the two factions on the outskirts of the city and a general report on the situa-tion, he made no mention of any appeal by American citizens for him to request the United States to send a warship for their pro-tection. No mention was made of the number of casualties as the re-sult of the outbreaks, and state department officials said tonight that they were certain the con-sul would have reported if American lives or property were in jeopardy. They expressed confidence that the acting high commissioner of Palestine, Harry Charles Luke, would ade-quately handle the situation and would provide for the gathering of any necessary military forces to supplement the present ef-forts to quell the riots. DEMANDS PROTECTION FOR AMERICANS WASHINGTON, D. C., Aug. 26.-Protection for the lives and property of American citi-zens in the trouble areas in Je-rusalem, where Arabs and Jews have met in armed conflict over the rights of religious worship at the Wailing Wall, was asked of the British government at London today by Ambassador Charles G. Dawes. PEACE BODY PLANS SESSION IN JERUSALEM FRANKFORT (J. T. A.)-Jewish representatives from various countries are participating, together with Chris-tians, Moslems and Buddists, in the sessions of the Universal Religious Peace Conference taking place here under the chairmanship of Shailer Matthews of Chicago. Among the Jewish delegates are Dr. Stephen S. Wise of New York, Dr. J. H. Hertz, Chief Rabbi of Great Britain, Dr. David de Sola Pool, New York, and Senator Isaac Rubinstein, Chief Rabbi of Vilna. The overwhelming sentiment among the delegates is that the next session of the conference be held in Jeru-salem.
