THE SENTINEL In November, business had a bluish cast. The financial waters were troubled. Corn and wheat and cotton were tumbling-business was halting and hesitating. Everywhere you heard the croakers say, "People are not buying." Then the retailers took the cold plunge. They began to readjust prices and offer inducements. And they advertised the f act-ad-vertised it in the newspapers of their home cities. They kept at it-and kept at it. *After a bit, buying began to wake up-slowly at first, then in greater volume. Progressive merchants who know newspaper advertising pulls progres-sively went at it harder. Business grew better and better, and by the last part of December many merchants were reporting rec-ord- breaking sales, and, taking the country as a whole, business was Newspaper advertising is the great-est single, business force on this con-tinent today. Funds for the shipment were contributed by organ-izations throughout the country, through the People's Relief Committee. and the Federation of Ukrainian Jeiwish organ-izati- ons. The items included $75,000 worth of flour; clothing, $60,000; -medicaments, $25,000; soap and disinfectants, $5,000; condensed milk. $5,000; shoes $12,000; machinery, $12,500; hosiery, $8,000; and cloth, $15,000. A.)-The proceedings of the; special !military court which sen-te- nced Vladimir Jabotinsky to 15 years hard labor and 19 other Jews to three years for .defending the Jewish commun-ity in the Jeirusalem . riots during April 1920 have been -completely crushed by the Chief MilitaryCommander in Egypt, according to a disipatch from Jerusalem received 'here. Jabotiasky is the founder of the, Jewish legion Which served with the British forces and is a !leading char-acter in the present Zionist movement. 'The severity 'of his -sentence, caused con-sternation among Jews in all parts of the world and as 'a result of their pro-tests it was remitted to 1 year's im-prisonment. Later lie and his -companions were pardoned by a special amnesty de-cree. In making known the reversion of these sentences, the Chief Commander stated that the, only thing J'abotiusky was guillty of was b-eing unlawfully in possession of a revolver. Jewish Peril., Irn Copenhagen, the Deputy declared there is -a secret Jewish organization which is connected th& Third Internationale. The organization extends its influence internationally with the idea of. dominating world polities. It is with, this sinister pur-po- se, the Deputy decdared that so many Jews are now in Vienna. The Deputy concludiid by emphasizing that the 373,000 Jews of Vinna represent the greatest menace 'to Austria. The Social- Demnocr-at, Wenner , took isule with the anti-Semiites and declared that the 'Christian-Socialist government is inconsistent.
