How to Make Long Distance Calls [Continued] PERSON-TO-PERSON SERVICE From One Person to Another I • All Hours, Day or Night. This serv¬ ice differs from the Station-to-Station service in that a particular person, or particular extension of a Private Branch Exchange, is called for instead of "anyone who answers the telephone" at the dis¬ tant end. The rates for this service are not reduced during the evening or night hours. Charges for this service may be "reversed" or collected at the distant station if accepted by such station. Owing to the fact that the Company may be unable, for reasons beyond its control, to complete calls for particular persons or P. B. X. stations, this class of call is accepted only with the understand¬ ing that a Report Charge will apply, under the conditions outlined below, if a chargeable conversation does not result. Person-to-Person Call Rates are about one-fourth greater than the Station-to- Station Day Rates. Appointment Call Rates are the same as those quoted for Person-to-Person calls. An appointment call is one on which connection is to be established at a speci¬ fied time set by either party. Report Charges apply. . Messenger Call Rates are the same as those for Person-to-Person calls plus a charge for messenger service required to notify the desired person to come to the telephone. In case the desired person cannot be secured, a Report Charge plus the Messenger Charges must be paid. Reversed Charges—Messages or calls on which charges are to be "reversed," or collected at the distant end. If you desire the charges reversed you should advise the operator when you place the call. If the called party refuses to accept the charges a Report Charge will be made unless the call is then com¬ pleted as a Person-to-Person paid mes¬ sage. Report Charge. A charge of approx¬ imately one-fifth of the Person-to-Person rate to the point involved is made if com¬ munication cannot be established on Per¬ son-to-Person, Appointment, Messenger or Reversed Charge calls for reasons be¬ yond the Company's control. No Report Charge is made if the call is completed nor in case the report re¬ turned is "busy," "out of order," or "don't answer," as applied to the called station. For Additional Information call "Long Distance." Request for Charges. If you desire to be told the charge on any message, it will save time if you so advise the oper¬ ator when you place the call. In the case of reversed charge calls it is important that you make the request when you agree to accept the charges. Otherwise considerable delay will result while she obtains the rate and computes the charge. Bills for Toll and Long Distance Serv¬ ice cover the charges for one month pre¬ ceding the date of the bill. Report all Complaints of Long Dis¬ tance Service to the "Long Distance Chief Operator." International Telephone Service Trans-Atlantic telephone service is available from your telephone to any point in Austria, Belgium, Czecho¬ slovakia, England, Germany, Holland, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland and Wales, to most cities in France, and to many important cities of other NaperviUe European countries. Telephone serv¬ ice is also available to any point in Canada and Cuba, and to the important cities of Mexico. Calls may be placed to these points or rates and other in¬ formation secured by merely calling "Long Distance."
