The annual Library Reading Club picnic will follow the performance. All children are invited to attend and shouldplantobringasandwich. The library will supply cold drinks, chips and dessert. Registration for the puppet show and picnic are requiraJ. Please telephone the Ubrary (669-5386) or stop by for fiirther information. Huntley Village Board presents meeting minutes Construction ofthe new high school and the Myrtle Street water main were two of the topics discussed at the village board meeting on June 22, 1995. A regular meeting ofthe board of trustees ofthe Village ofHuntiey was called to order at 7:05p.m. on June 22,1995. Inattendancewere: Mayor Dhamer, Trustees Paulsen, Eckel, Lamb, Shamhart, and Todd. Also in attendance were Administrator Nelis, Acting Police Chief Hewitt, Public Works Director Schwartz, Building Inspector Ehrke, Village Engineer Schwegel and Village Attorney Coppedge. Trustee Becker was absent. Consent Agenda The following items were requested to be removed from the consent agenda: Items A, F, H, I and J. Items remaining on the consent agenda were Items B (TIF payout eligibility-police capital). Item C (TIF payout-bill approval-police capital), ItemD (bill approval (memo) -police management consultant), ^^em E (ordinance amending animal ^^ntrol regulations), and Item G (motion to approve truck specifications). Motion by Trustee Eckel, secondedby Trustee Shamhart to approve the consent agenda. Roll call vote: Trustees Eckel, Paulsen, Lamb, Shamhart and Todd, all ayes. A-Minute Approval: Trustee Eckel asked that the June 8 minutes be changed to read as follows on page 3 -Developer's Report "Trustee Eckel stated that he would like to see an agreement which addresses future costs to Haligus Road." Motion to approve amended minutes made by Trustee Eckel, seconded by Trustee Lamb. Roll call vote: Trustees Paulsen, EckeL Lamb, Shamhart and Todd, all ayes. F-Weed Control: Trustee Paulsen expressed concern about the fine beingtoohighforfirst-time offenders. She requested these offenders be fined $100; second-time offenders be fines $300; and $500 be fined for the next offense. Mr. Eckel explained to the board that there are procedures his department must follow before they can issue a fine. After discussion, it was agreed to amend the ordinance to include a $100 fine for first-time offenders. Motion to direct the attorney to prepare a revised ordinance made by Trustee Paulsen; seconded by Trustee Todd. Roll call vote: Trustees Paulsen, Eckel, Lamb and Todd, all ayes. Trustee Shamhart, nay. H-Motion to retain Jerry Bratcher to Assist in Police Chief Recruiting: Trustee Eckel stated he had questions to ask Mr. Bratcher who was not present at the meeting. Motion to table the issue made by Tmstee Eckel; seconded by Trustee Todd. Roll call vote: Trustees Paulsen, Eckel, Lamb, Shamhart and Todd, all ayes. I-Purchase of computer - Water/ Sewer Department: Trustee Eckel questioned whether the village was purchasing the computer from Hi- Tek Computer or Gemini and it was explained that they were the same company. The name has been changed to Gemini. Motion to approve purchase of the new computers made by Trustee Eckel; seconded by Trustee Paulsen. Roll call vote: Trustees Paulsen, Eckel, Lamb, Shamhart and Todd, all ayes. J-Purchase of riding mower - Street Department: Trustee Eckel asked the difference between the Cushman and the BolKat mowers. Mr. Schwartz explained that they are virtually the same mower. Motion to purchase the Ransome Cushman mower from Woodstock Power Equipment for $8,550.00 made by Trustee Shamhart; seconded by Tmstee Todd. Roll call vote: Tmstees Paulsen, Eckel, Lamb, Shamhart and Todd, all ayes. Mavor's Report Mr. Chuck Ruth and Mr. James Heavey were present to discuss the new district 158 high school progress on Harmony Road. Mr. Ruth explained to the board that they hoped to have the building partially completed in May 1997, thus enabling occupancy in the fall of 1997. Theyarerestrictedbythedollars available and will have to complete the building in stages. They hope to complete the first phase and then in twoorthreeyears complete the second phase when bond money becomes available. Information on the estimated cost for sewer and water service was handed out. Mr. Ruth stated that they will need to know in the not too distant fiiture if something can be done jointly between the village and see VILLAGE on page 12 Chicago Cubs draftformer Huntiey resident KristoferD. Stading, son of former Huntley resident David Stading, was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the June 1995 Amateur Baseball draft. He was selected by the Cubs with their 15th pick in the draft. He is a 6'7", 2401b left-handed pitcher. Stading was also elected to the 5A All Arizona team and to All Valley All star team. Stading is currently pitching in the Gulf Coast League in Ft. Myers, FL andisaMay 1995 graduateof Trevor Browne High School in Phoenix, AZ. Kris is the grandson ofthe late Emest Stading, Jr., the nephew of Huntley resident Randy Stading; and cousin of Dana and RJ. Stading, who attend Huntiey Grade School. Park District offers vandalism info reward The Huntley Park District is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction ofthe guilty party or parties responsible for the vandalism at Ol'Timer's Park. Please call the park district office at 669- 3180 or the Huntley Police Department at 669-2141.
