Chicago, noxt Friday night, at 7:30 p.m., for the special Christ inas productioii. Th(^ program will ilcpict Christmas in thi! large city. A mail walks down State Street and leniiniscos on the Chrislmases which he liad in his old home town. He pausp.s in front of a State Street store and sees a mannequin whicli comes to life. Iliese parts are por¬ trayed by professional actors from Chicago. From here the program shifts to Huntley. The transition from the fast. hun-\-, .scurry, bus¬ tle of the city to the simple farm like life in Huntley is done through a manger scone at a hcurch. The hoy and girl are tiansformed fiom the gaigty" ot Chicago to the old fashioned Christmas in Huntley. Many of your friends and neigh- tnirs tobk part in this production which 'was filmed last Saturday night, Dec, IT. line scene starts in the stable to complete the trans¬ ition from the manger .scene to the live farm. A group of Huntle^ "Carolccrs" ride up on a hay wac;- on driven by Mr. Don Barrett, Ag¬ riculture- teacher at the High School. The group stops in front of the Delwin Borhart window and sings "God Itest You MeiT>' Gen¬ tlemen." Actually, as you will see in tomorrow night's production, the group did not sing this son:?, but only mouthed the words. It was lip synchronized from a pro¬ fessional group in Chicago who were unable to attend that night. The gi-oup of carolers goes into the house and is greeted by Mrs. Borhart and the children. Hot chocolate and homo baked Christ¬ mas cokics are set out on the tabic for the expected Caroleers. They are ushered into the Borhart's farm to warm themselves from the cold winter night. One of the two professional singers fronj Chi¬ cago asks if anyone can play the piano. Bonnie Borhart says that she can and the group sings "Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly " Karen IV^rhart, during the sing¬ ing of the third stanza, whispers in hei- mother's car to put the angel on top of the simple iiomcy Christmas free. The camera nans up the tree to the angel, dollies in and fades back to the huge Christmas tree in Chicago. The program ends with the Christmas tree fading in the background and Frank Reynolds, narrating from his home concludes the program. Many of the people who {lar- ticipated in this program from Huntley did not expect the actual production of the 10 or 15 minutes which will they be on TV would take as long as it did. The group arrived at the Borhart farm at 7:(>() and did not finish until 1:30 in the morning. This will give >ou an idea of the complex make up both in TV and newspaper work. Each scene was photographed a minimum of three limes: some times at different camera anj^es. During the pnxluction the sound continued the same but you will see the Huntley "Caroleers" and th(- lj5orharfs from many different angles. Bo sure to watch and see your friend-s and neighbors on CBS TV, Channel 2. 7:30 this Friday night, Dec. 23. The i»ople who are in from Huntley are: Mr.s. Frank ' Parisck, Mrs. Glen Delancy. This was a rather small audience, particularly with regard to the quality and types of music presented. Professional as¬ sociates of Mr. Perley. as well as a professional associate and former music instructor of Mr. Perley, were amazed with the musician¬ ship on the performance of • the music. The difficulty of the music, the balance, the blend and the ex¬ pression of the music thus pre¬ sented by the "band and chorus, were in many respects, above the oxcpectations of some of the per¬ sons present. (Pictures may be found on inside pages relating fo this story. > Santa Came... to To-iivn Sat. and Sunday Santa Claus came to town a week early this year on Saturday and Sunday to see what the good little boys and girls of Huntley want.
