Comily Board Discontfames Airport Study At the McHenry County Board Meedng, Mr. Ron Mor¬ ris, District #3, made a motion to abandon and order the engtoeertog work to he totally disconttoued on the Master Airport Plan. The motion was seconded by Mr. Cal Skinner, Sr., District #1, and a vote was taken to support this motion. Motion carried 23 to one. In discussion before the vote, Mr. Ron Morris was disturbed with the letter from nitoois Department of Transportation addressed to Mr. Larry Dona¬ hue (Consultant for Ralph burke & Assoc), This letter, to short, requested the Consultant "to cease any further efforts on behalf of this study until ftirther notice." Mr. Steve Moore (Chairman of Economics Development Committee), District #1, was bothered by this quote of "ftirther notice." Because of delays, he agreed to go with District *3's recommendation. He did not want this issue hangtog over the County Board's heads, (and felt that they've been dealtog with the majority of unhappy citizens fbr too long of a time. Mr. Dean Cunat, District #2, who origtoally started the Air¬ port Study, commented that even though he felt the study should conttoue, he also stated Veugeier Landfill Application Denied • The application of the Mc- fenry County Landfill toe, owned by the Veugeler family, was agato denied at the Tuesday Oct. 15 County Board meettog with all but 2 of the Board Members vottog to denyu the application. Bob Vorisek and Dean Cunat voted to allow the landfill, which was planned fbr land located near Huntley on the Conley farm a mile and a half north of Huntley. The Board re-affirmed its decision of March 20 to deny the petition because the Veugelers had not met the six required criteria. Veugler's attomey when ask¬ ed that they plan to do, said, Probably appeal, but we have not made a deftoite dedsion as yet. Veugeler has the option to go back to the Polution Control Board withto 30 days. that at this potot the people should not worry atwut the study, because it is only a study. Mr. Edward Buss, District ^, (the <MB|y board memt>er who voted to conttoue the study) stated, "To be very honest with you, I think this is an effort to futility, one way or the other, if you want me to be honest with you, I think it is already stopped. What are you stop- ptog? You are stopptog some- thtog that is already stopped.'' The vote was 23 yeas & one nay. Many attending support groups were pleased. Eburest Dance The Gilberts Lions and Lioness Qubs present their 6th Annual Harvest Dance and Pig Roast to be held on Saturday, October 26 at Rutland Township Fire Station on Route 72 to Gilberts, IL. The Pig Roast will be held ftom 3 pm to 6:30 pm. Donation of $4.50 per person. The Harvest Dance will be held ftom 8:00 pm to 12:00 am. Donation of $3.00 per person. The Bittersweet Band features country, rock and SO's music. Door Prizes and cash for best costumes catagories of funniest, best, most origtoal, and scariest. Proceeds will be donated to the Diabetes Foimdation Mark P. Cariock Of The United States Navy Mark P. Cariock, 10928 Janice Dr., 3rd. Qass Petty Officer to the United States Navy is assigned to the U.S.S. Saratoga. He is an aviation structural mechanic and hydraulic specialist. He works on the flight deck also guidtog the planes on and off. It was very ezcittog and rewardtog I'm sure to have l)een a part of the hijacktog rescue mission. We are all so proud of Mark here at home and wish him a safe journey home. Hnntley Homecoming 1985 Brother, Jason Cariock Mom Sc Dad, Karen Sc Joe Femali Last weeks homecomtog started off with Spirit Week, each day with a different way of dresstog up. Friday night, de¬ spite the ratoy weather, there was a crowd oif people up town for the snake dance and pep rally. After that, they went to the school for the bon fire and the announctog of the ktog and queen, which was Jfan Grechis and Julie Hoffman. The game was held Saturday, playtog agatost Central. Al¬ though we lost, the school still kept its spirits up and topped the homecomtog off with a dance to the school gym. At the dance many people were there havtog a ^eat time. Even Alumni were there, which a sijpi was put up welcomtog them. Couples also had their pictures taken by DeWane Studios. As always Homecomtog is a big event for high schools, and despite our loss to Central this year, we have next year to look forward to a great winntog team!
