MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH BLUE & GOLD AWARDS /Father Ambre said his first Mass in Huntley as pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church last Sunday, February I7th. On Saturday, February 25 at 7:30 P.M., he will be officially installed as pastor of the Huntley parish by Mgr. Joseph Hailey, Dean of McHenry County. The installation will be followed by refreshments in the hall of the church. Father Ambre invites everyone to attend his installation. Father Ambre has been a priest for 37 years. He was raised in the Aurora area and went to St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee and St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore for his theology degree. This is the same school of theology in Baltimore which Father Day attended. Following his ordination. Father Ambre spent 12 years in Sterling. III. as Associate Pastor of St. Mary's Church. In 1954 he was transferred to St. Vincent's Home for Children and St. Joseph Continued on Page 2 LINDSEYS RECEIVE AWARD Joe Manning presented a special plaque to Norma and Gene Lindsey for their excellent Filming of all Redskin activities. The presentation was made at the Athletic Booster's Valentine Dance last Saturday nite. Jaycee Dance Marathon DANCE MARATHON For the Autistic Children Sponaoied by tlie Hnntley area Jayceea FEBRUARY 22-23 For more information call Rick Wascher at 428-2394 or Shane Jordi at 669-5643. Priies will be: 1. Everyone entering the Marathon will receive a T-shirt 2. Everyone earning $2,000 in pledges will win a free T.V. 3. Everyone earning $1000 in pledges will win an AM FM cassette Radio 4. Everyone earning $500 in pledges will win a suitable prize (not vet known) , For all those lasting the 24 hours. There will be a dance contest with the prize being $500 to the winning couple. The bus will leave at 10:30 a.m. and return at approximately 4:00 p.m. The cost of the tickets is $5.50 for the main floor and $4.50 for seats on the mezzanine plus $1.00 per person to help pay for the bus". There are a limited number of tickets avail¬ able and we must have your reservation by February 27. To make your reservation you may call Betsey Warrington at 669- 5573 or the park office at 669-3180 on Wednesdays from 9:00-11:00 am or on Saturdays from 10:00 am until noon. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.. Legionnaires of Huntley American Legion Post #673 will join with millions of their fellow members in a globe-spanning celebration ofthe Legion's 61st Birthday during March, Post Commander Donald Hardy an¬ nounced today. Here in Huntley, the 61st Anniversary will be highlighted with special festivities including a Birthday Dinner on Saturday, March 8th at 7:30 P.M. at the Post Home. It will be a roast beef dinner served by the Celas of the Congregational Church. The guest speaker for the night will be Bob Schultz, Uth District Commander and thc entertainment will be by the "Huntley Senior Citizen Band." Huntley Consoli¬ dated Schools. Huntley, Illinois, was held in the High Schooi Building on February 14, 1980 at 7:30 p.m. The President called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Mrs. Basel, Mrs. Pawl. Mr. Spears, Mr. Pupic. Mrs. Living¬ ston and Mr. Zirk. Absent: Mr. Grismer. All present joined in the Pledge to the Flag. Mr. Pupich moved Mrs. Pawl 2nd to approve the minutes of the January 24. meeting as written. The motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. he Board went to fhe Kinder¬ garten Room at 7:40 p.m. where it heard a presentation of the curriculum by Mrs. Egner. and returned to the high school library for discussion at 8:10 p.m. Mrs. Pawl moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve payment of monthly bills. The motion carried with 6 yeas and 0 nays. Mr. Zirk moved Mr. Pupich 2nd to reimburse Imprest Pund for total ezpenditures, the amount of $1230.13. The motion carried with 6 yeas and 0 nays. Mr. Pupich moved Mrs. Pawl 2nd to approve the resolution to loan $83,000 to the Education Fund from the Working Cash Fund. The motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. Mrs. Pawl moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve the trip schedul¬ ed for May 17-19. 1980 to St. Louis as the Senior Class Trip. The motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. Mr. Spears moved Mrs. Pawl 2nd the Board accept the Pledge ofthe State Bank of Huntley, for $500,000 in United States Trea¬ sury Notes as set forth in the requirements of H.B. 1307. Mr. Pupich amended the motion to omit the Treasury Note provision. During discus¬ sion Mr. Pupich withdrew his amendment. The motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays.
