Following a dinner, the ceremony began with an honor guard presenting the flag. The installing officer for the Legion Auxiliary were Angeline, Powell, Elaine Murphy, Dorotyy Mersman and May Chesak. The new 11 District officers for the Auxiliary are: President - Dorothy M. Migalla; Vice President - Eileen Johnson; Secretary - Mary Gorny; Treasurer - Frances Pederson; Historian - Becky Gabel; Chaplain ¦ Betty Frost; Sgt at Arms - Charlene Elsholtz and Asst. Sgt. At Arms - Josephine Kalbas, Mary Earner and Jeanne Opitz. The Legionaire's installing officers were Russell Bierit/.. Rev. Bob Augustine and Ray Maynard. The new officers arc: Commander - Robert Schultz; Sr. Vice Commander - Vernon Metz; Jr. Vice Commander - George Heinrich; Adjutant ¦ Ken Kunde; Finance Officer - Norman Boxleitner; Chaplain • Winston Baumann; Judge Advocate - J.C. Tromp; Service Officer • John Duffy; Historian - Clarence Jorgenson; Sgt at Arms - Roy Homo; Asst. Sgt at Arms - Al Sheber, Clinton Mayes and Francis Reagen. A large turnout of Huntley Legion members were in attendance. Gene Lindsey of Huntley videotaped the ceremony. Ralph Peters was a Sgt. at Arm for the ceremony. Mayor Don Enstrom was also in attendance. Bob Schultz, the new 11th District Commander, thanked his family for their support. His wife, Mabel, presented Bob with a plaque to hold his new gavel. Mabel was I Ith District President in 1973. Bob thanked everyone for the honor of being installed into the high office and thanked everyone for the vote of confidence. He The Redskin Varsity team played the Genoa-Kingston Football team last Friday night. Jim Goehl took ccir ol of the ball at the 34 yd. line. In three plays, the Redskins "ere to the 45. Adam Brunschon gained another 4 yds. Rick Por ^ intercepted for Genoa while Joe Zorica intercepted the next play !¦ r Huntley. Genoa's Ken L'Huiller caught the pum nd gained 22 yds. After getting to the 30 yd. line. Rick Potts of Genoa caught a pass at the 5 yd. line. Ken L'Huillier made a touchdown and the extra point was gtx)d giving Genoa a 7-0 lead. Jim Goehl got the punt while Dan Schaller gained 5 yds. Huntley couldn't move the ball so they punted. Jim Williams was hurt on the play. TTie Redskins dug in to hold Genoa. Bruce Lindsey blocked a Genoa pass. The 2nd Quarter saw Jim Goehl catching the ball. A fumble ensued. Huntley recovered. Joe Zorica got to the 45 yd. line. Adam Bruschon carried the ball to the 40 and then to the 35. This time Joe Zorica got hurt on the play. Genoa regained the ball at the 32 yd. line and then down to the 13. Genoa lust yardage from a penalty and good Redskin defense. Genoa regained the ball and with 50 seconds left in the game made a touchdown. The extra {joint was good making the score 14-0. It was Huntley's ball and Jim Goehl made it to the 42 before the quarter ended. Genoa started the 3rd Quarter with a touchdown to make the score 20-0. TTie extra point punt was blocked. Adam Brunschon took the ball to the 45 ; a 10 yd. gain. Genoa regained the ball going to the 15. Huniley go the ball back at the 10 yd. line. Another Genoa player was hurt on this play. Genoa made another touchdown to begin the 4th Quarter making the score 26-0. They again got the ball and the score went to 32-0. The extra point was good as the score went to 33-0. Steve Parisek caught the ball for Huntley at the 35 yd. line and the Redskins went to the 27 and then down to the 13. They finally were at the 7 on a pass play. Jim Goehl made the Redskin touchdown to make the score 33-6. Genoa fumbled the ball at the 45. Adam Brunschon went to the 35 while Jim Goehl gained more yardage. Unfortunately dme ran out. The Redskins played a hard fought game. 7>eir passing was improved and defense was good again this week. It was an action fllled game. Reid, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James Reid ot 9112 Algonquin Road, Huntley, has been selected as a semifin alist in the 1980 National Merit Scholarship Program. She quali fied for this honor be scoring very high on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. Chris is an outstanding student ant* ranks first in the Huntley High School senior class. Her school activities include: band, year¬ book. National Honor Society, and photography. She is also a senior class officer Chris plans to continue her education b\ obtaining a liberal arts degrei from a major college, FOOTBALL NEWS The football game - witl Wheaton Christian on Septen^ ber 29, 1979 will be a varsii only game starting at 1:00 P. M. JAYCbE DANCE MARATHON The Huntley area Jaycees ar planning to hold a danc marathon later this year. On half of the proceeds from sue: an event will go to the Juvenilt tflabetes Fund, Muscular Dysi rophy. The Heart Fund and thi American Cancer Fund, The other half of the proceeds will bi put back into community pro jeas and activities. We would like to know th' public opinion on our idea. According to Shirley LeGare, MCC counselor and coordinator of high school articulation, the aftemoon (2:30-4:30 p.m.) and evening (7-9 p.m.) prognms are designed to provide area high school students, ooilege stud¬ ents and parents the Opportun¬ ity to become acquainted with a wide vaiety of post high school educational and training pro¬ grams. the College and Career Fair is a no-cost, cooperative program co-sponsored by McHenry County College and all of the area high schools.
