Ife liuntleif Your Home Town Newspaper USPS 580.36CL THURSDAY JULY 25.1985 VOLUME 26 - NUMBER 17 Ii? ¦v^-n limlm "ANGIE DAY" HUGE SUCCESS ^f^^^py "Angle Day" A Big Success Nets Over $20,000 "Angie Da^" held last Saturday on the Village Square in Huntley was an extremely successful event which netted over $20,000.00 and the money is still coming in ftom all the fund raisers. A final figure is expected by next week. It's impossible to know the exact amount of people that traveled to Huntley to attend the affair but .round figures of 2500 have been heard. Each and every organization did a great job with their respective "stand" or "event" and the day's reciepts proved it. A great big "Thank You" goes to everyone who supported "Angie Day" whether they spent $900 at the auction or bought a $1.00 Angie button. We couldn't have done it without YOU. "Special Thanks" goes to Alliance Const., Marengo Ridge Golf Giurse, Crystal Woods, Pinecrest, McHenry & Woodstock Disposal, Benoy Motor Sales, Howie Schultz Auctioneers, Hansford Chevrolet, Leitherer Body Shop, the Huntley Harvestors, Jerome E. My prayers and thoughts are with you, Angie. Best wishes. Sincerely, James R. Thompson Govemor Wife SeUs Husband Winning Ticket Norman Lewis, 550 E. Grove, Sheldon, IL was the lucky winner of the Angie Car (the 1985 Plymouth Reliant) drawn for last Saturday night on "Angie Day". At 10 pm at the dance. President of the Village of Huntley, James Dhamer, drew the winning ticket and the car had a new owner. Although the winner could not be reached until Sunday, the young man was very pleased. He stated that his wife is an employee of Coils in that area and she sold him the winning ticket. Huntley Boys on State Championship Team The fact that Huntley does not have a Teener League Ball Team has not stopped two Huntley boys ftom playing ball. Dan and Dave Erath joined the Elgin 14-15 year old Babe Ruth Teener League this summer, made the All Star Team, won the District and Regional Championship and went on to win the State Championship on Monday, July 22nd. The team now travels to Owensboro, Kentucky, August 3 - 7 for the U.S. Regional which includes seven states. If they take the U.S. Regional it's on to Jamestown, New York for the United States Championship. Although the boys are both versitile players Dan is the team's main catcher. Dave who has played Short Stop, 3rd base and outiEield, also pitches. Dave and Dan are the twin sons of Dick and Janet Erath, 10605 Kathleen Ave., Huntley and will be Juniors at Huntley High School this fall. We wish the boys and their team the best of luck II! 1 Ice Cream Social The Trinity Lutheran Church of Huntley will hold an ice cream social Sunday, July 28, from 5 - 9 pm on the church lawn. Featured entertainment will include the Huntley Koncert Band, Harold Blake and his accordian, FunnyBones thi Clown to amuse both childrei and adults alike. There will be face paiting fo the youngsters and delicioii barbecues, home-baked pic and cakes with ice cream an beverages. The public is invited. (Ms Manley To Sfaig At Fair's Beauty Pageant Cris Manley, a Huntley Hig School Junior, has again bee asked to entertain at McHeni County Fair's Queen Contes This will be Cris's second tin to be involved in the Pageai entertainment. He has sung the Miss Huntley Contest fi the past two years and says 1 looks forward to this year pageant. We wish the best of luck Cris and to our own Melis Reeves - "Miss Huntley 1985" Landfill Appeal Hearing Scheduled Opponents to the propos laiidfill on route 47 one mile a one half north of Eiintley advi residents that an appeal heari will be held on July 25 10:00 AM at the McH« County Court Hmise
