Huntley, was injured in a collision on the Huntley-Dundee blacktop, just past Gallagher Rd. According to Kane County Sheriff's Police. Mr. Fettes was going east, came upon a gasoline truck goine slow, applied his brakes skidded on the blacktc^ surface which was partly covered with gravel and skidded directly in front of an oncoming car, driven by Mr. Max Toppel of Rte. 3, Elgin. Mr. Toppel was going west on th blacktop. Mr. Toppel stated to police that he didn't have time to turn off the road, out of the way of the Fettes vehicle, because Fettes was be¬ hind the gasoline truck. Both Mr. Fettes and Mr. Towiel were taken to the St. Joseph's Hos¬ pital in Elgin by the official ambu¬ lance of Elgin. Mr. Fettes was ticketed for wrong lane usage. Police Report Break'In On last Monday evening. August 4th or early Tuesday morning, the Huntley Medical Center Building was broken into. The beautj( shop was robbed of approximately $2.50. There was no other apparent loss. The rear door was damaged be¬ cause both hinges had to be brok¬ en off to remove an iron bar which was across the door. The investi¬ gator for the Sheriff's office has dusted for fingerprints. He is in¬ vestigating the case, along with Chief Richard Nelson. Police Report Car Stolen On the evening of July 29th or early mon^g of the tha SOth, a red and white mS C3)evrolet convertiUe was stolen from the paiking lot at the Unton Special Maehine Com¬ pany. Tlie owner of the car, Mi¬ chael 3. Young of 1083 Tappen K., Woodstock, was working at the time. At tiie present time, the car has not been recovwred. Summer School Summary The stunmer progrem at the Huntley Elementary School was able to provide four very interest¬ ing field tr^ for the youngsters this year, ¦'^ese excursions not only provided an immediate learn¬ ing experience, but also establish¬ ed a base for future interest and learning. The first trip, enabled the child- dren to see and explore the grounds and \iltra-modem milking facil¬ ities at Hawthorne Melody Farm. The next visit was to the Mi»- seum of Science and Industry with exhibits depicting man's great scientific and technological achieve¬ ments. Ite trip to Field Museum allowed the children to see bril¬ liant portrayals of natural history and many true-to-life nature ex¬ hibits. "The event will take place ^t the Amer¬ ican Legion Post Home of Huntley Post 673 at Huntley on Saturday, August 9th at 7:30 p.m. .Dancing and refreshments will follow the installation. . The new officers to be installed are: Don Eastrom of Huntley, Com¬ mander; ailford "Ty" Behrens of Hebron, Sr. VIce-Conunander; Wil¬ bur Haack of .Wonder Lake, Jr. Vice-Commander; R&bett Sdnilts of Huntley. Adjutant; Harold Vydtal of .^Wtnuisa;. Mke. Chaatain; W4ater Massey of Lake-to-the-Hills, finance Officers and Jbe Lewis of Marengo, Sgt-at-Arms. The Installing Officer for the Oc¬ cassion is George Ray Hudaen, from Hinsdale, an active Legion¬ naire who has served in many of¬ fices of the LegitMi. The past year Mr. Hudson was Chainnan of the Legislative Committee for the Ilth District of tho American Legion. Since the new Commwxier is one of Huntley's mo«t active Legion workers, and well known throughout the County, it is hoped the Huntley Post meiTdt>ers will be well r^re- sented at the installation. Huntley School Registration Begins Aug 15 School r^istration for District 158 is as ft^ows: Friday, Augvost 15, Juniors and Seniors will register at the high school study hall from 1:00 to 3:do p.m. Freshmen and Sophcnnores will register Tuesday. August 19 from 1:00 p.m. 4o 9:00 p.m. Elementary tegisratirai for grades K-8 is schedided for Mon¬ day, August 18, at the Hi^ 8<Ato(A office.
