It Is much better. He gets around on crutches. The sale of Mrs. Bftie Noll's waa well attended by people (rom 8. 8. 'JBrerything sold well. Thad Rinehart waa called to Chi¬ cago the first of the week, where he woa examined by Uiiel« Sam. Robert Reed, Tom'mte Hall, Oeo. Coibom and IMx Ownbel andited the township' booka Tawday. Birthday dinner was well enjoyed at Joh|i R. Cooper's south of town, Tuesday. Harry Cooper and (amity eame through town on their way there. Mr. and Mrs. 8allor Coggan and . Mrs. Will Rinehart were busines* callers fu Olney Wedneaday. Rememher the basaar and good eats April 16th. All come ont. Meeting did not begin Wednesday aight. Not until Thursday, on ac- eount at the rain. All come out and hear good sermons. Arthur Prutlger visited last San- day with his twin brother, Arnold Prutlger, at Dressel's. I missed mentioned laet week. Alfred Conley returned Thuraday (rom Little Rock, Ark., where he has spent the winter. Lawrence Oumbel was called to LouiSTille Friday, to met Joe Deseh's children, who were sent here after thetr parents deserted them near Sprin^ield. Wm. Smith bought the property of Mrs. Ell Baldwin tlrst house south ot F. M. DHIman's. He will soon move there, for they are Improving the house and will soon havg it ready to move into. School will close Tuesday, April 4. Teachers and pupils will both be clad when the day comes, for they are getting tired. Little Ruth Beasley spent Wednes¬ day nite with Sis Benner. Big dinner Friday at Mrs. Mary Rinehart's and Thad's was well en- Joyed by Rev. and Mrs. Wright and Mr. and Hrs. John I. Levitt. Hrs. Alice Haines eame one day the last of the week and is ready to do dressmaking. Mr. and Mrs. Sailoi^ Coggan moved to their home Monday. We wish them well in their new undertaking. Howard Phillips and family will move to Mrs. Callts' property. Hr. and Hrs. Willard Dewhirst Tis¬ ited Sunday wtth Mrs. W. D. Dillman. Ur. and Hrs. Ralph Hastings left Sunday night for Carbondale where he will attend school the coming sum¬ mer. Just after crosidnK bridge over Coon Creek, north ot L. O. Hale's on Thursday Barl Craig and Claude Thompson bad a narrow eoeape from downing. The water on south side of bridge waa so deep and the current so strong that thte buggy was turned into the ditch and the horses became entangled in a barb wtro (ance. Res¬ cuers came and loosened the horses and helped the men out. Earl Craig was seatetd on top of buggy. Dr. J. L. Young was called here on Thursday to visit Hr. and Mrs. Allen Michels' little child. Hrs. Vaughn went to Olney on Thursday to spend a tew days with her sons Charles and Uarion. Hr. and Mrs. Harry Uatteson of CIsne, were guesta ot Ur. and Mrs. B. A. Keith on Wednesday. Everett Pearee is at St. Louis at St. John's hospital having his tonsils treated. Clel McOrew and daughter, MlSs Cecil, of near Xenta, vtsited relatives here on Friday. D. F. Chaney retnmed to hia home at Springfleld on Thursday . Fred Powell and M. O. Karr con¬ ducted final examination here on Sat¬ urday. Dr. Parker ot Johnsonville, called on Tuesday to see Mrs. Jane Purdue. Russell and Clarence Shehorn left last week for Woolstock, Iowa, where they have employment. Miss Pauline Jordan returned to Carbondale on Sunday after spending a week here with her parents, Mr. and Hrs. Dios Jordan. An entertainment will be given in the Wilson building on Saturday night. Forrest Anderson are the proud parents of a little daugh¬ ter, born Harch 29. She has been named ^Sarah Bllen. Floyd Anderson and family vistted with Hrs. Sallie Anderson Saturday. School closed at Russell Thursday with Rob Dow a» teacher.. The attendance at the Christian church is Increasing and every one ts taking great interest in the service. There were 93 in attendance last Sun¬ day. Hrs. Gould Hurvin and children ate Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Blmer Fehrenbach. The ladies of the Christian church served dinner at Norva Bryant's sale Monday. Proceeds about $40. Murvil Smith spent Sunday at Shamrock as usual. Things are looking suspicious, Munril. Pauline Bryant is able to be up most of the time. Norva Bryan leaves Wednesday for his work in Loqistaua. Hrs. Chas. Bryant called at the hotel Honday evening. Rev. Rosborough ate Sunday din¬ ner at Lee Husgrove's. Willie Weber began his duties as assistant cashier at tbe bank Hon¬ day. Henry C. James of Bogota, bas consented to act as auctioneer at the basaar which is to be given by the Ladies Aid ot the Christian church in Hay. Ur. and Mrs. Newton Murphy spent Wednesday with Mrs. Blla Wood. Dyke Dillman is assisting EM Smith in the postoffice. There will be preaching services at the Baptist church next Saturday and Sunday.
