BIG CONTEST IS STARTING TO KNOW WHO WILL TAKE LEADING PART A prize has been offered at the Harter-Stanford township high school to the student who writes the best Mory. The local production is to be made from the story accepted. BIO BOOSTER DAYS IN FLORA QN DAYS THAT THE PICTURE IS BEING PRODUCED. Next Saturday, May 13th, starts a great POPUl-^RITY CONTEST in Clay County, to be conducted by the Flora Journal-Record and the Orph¬ eum Theatre. The winners of tho contest—the most popular youngr la- day and young man In Flora or Clay county, will take the leading parts In the Home Talent Movie Comedy. Tbe contest will end on Saturday, June Srd, and the cast for the pic¬ ture will be selected, which will num¬ ber about 100 people, to co-star with the. winners of the popularity con¬ test. BIO PROGRAM BOOSTER DAYS The three days in which the picture is being produced will be big days for Flora. The Commerci*! Club will co-operate and make them real boost¬ er days, the merchants putting on real bargains, which 'make it a day worth while, for the many visitors who will come to town to see how a real motion picture Is made, see the fun and be in the picture themselves, as most everyone coming to town on this occasion will get to be In the picture, as well as the leading citi¬ zens of Flora. There will be parades and band con¬ certs. Several leading citizens of Louisville, Clay City, Xenia, Rinard and Cisne will be asked to take an Important part in the picture. BALLOT BOXES Will be placed In the two banks and m the Orpheum Theatre, in which you can cast your votes for the ones you think are the'most popular young man or woman In Flora and Clay county. The Judges will count the votes each week, not later than Wed¬ nesday night and the results will be published In each Issue of the Jour¬ nal-Record and on the screen at the Orpheum Theatre. WHO MAY GET INTO THE RACE Any man or woman or young lady or young man may enter the contest, except those of the Immediate fam¬ ilies of those giving out coupons or those In the Immediate employ of those handling coupons. HOW THB VOTES COUNT With each paid admission to the Orpheum Theatre you will receive a 100-vote coupon. For every new yearly subscription to the Journal-Record you receive a 2,000-vote coupon and.tor every year¬ ly renewal you receive a 1,000-vote coupon. However, no one person will be allowed to pay more than five years In advance to secure coupons. As we have made about 9000 receipts, ¦with from 1 to 10 descriptions on each receipt, mistakes wfll occur. LEGION PLANS FOR DECORATION DAY STEP RIGHT OUT IN FIRST GAME The newly organized Flora base ball team stepped right out of their winter lassitude and walked on Clare¬ mont last Sunday afternoon, winning the game by a score of 4 to 0, be¬ fore a large crowd. Leo Lents wns on the hill for the Floraltes, while Irvin of Lawrence¬ vllle heaved them up for the home guard. Lents allowed but three safe bingles and Flora collected a half dozen solid swats. Flora goes to Newton next Sunday. nXiINOIS STATE ROAD PROGRAM Gov. Small, Col. Miller and Mr. Sheets of the state hfghway depart¬ ment, have outlined their 1922 road bnllding program, with 362 miles of paving In forty-two counties, and 130 miles of heavy grading. The only work for the Midland Trail will be aboqt nine miles from Trenton to Breese, Clinton county, and about IVt miles from Salem to Sandoval, Marlon county—to be paved. C, and was attending the nattonal con¬ vention at Cleveland, Ohlb,,waa tak¬ en suddenly ill and returned home last Thursday. He Is now a patient at the Olney sanitarium and is ser¬ iously afflicted with erysipelas. The state chaplain of the Legion will be present to deliver the address on that date and elaborate memorial preparations are now being made by the post. The post is anxious to borrow 12 horses, saddled and bridled for the parade in the afternoon and will pos¬ itively guarantee to take proper care of them.
