The city -hall was full ot out-of-town people, there being probably 25 or 30 - btd- derg from St. Louis aad other places. Engineer Puller, ot 9t. Louis, who drew the planks, was bere assisting the city autl^tles with the contract letting. After the bids were read, the council -weat into execniClve ses- akm and atter folytg carefully over the different prQpoaald, let the con¬ tract In four sections to tbe tour lowest bidders. The total of the four bids was $29,849.66 and from Ithis amount there should be about $1000 reduc¬ tion in meter exchanges, so that the contract price is ' well within the 129,500 amount vdted in bonds last May for purpose Ol the improrement The contracit was let as foU'k^^: Section 1. Contract for rein¬ forced concrete chimney, 125 teet high, for 18,868.00 to John V. Bo¬ land, St. Louis. Section 3. Contract for boiler, «iigine. generator and station, elec- trlca! connections, to Baumes-Mc- Devltt Mschinery Co., of St. Louis, for $21,814.00. Section 3. Transformers, meters, and pole line material, to Commer¬ cial Bleetrical Supply Co., St. Louis, for $4765.66, less value of old bouse meters, approximately $1,1)00,00. Section 4. Pole line construction, rearranging old lines to H. Vlerhel- ier Electric Co., St. Louis, tor $612.^, 00. The tdltial gitr of Mr. Robert Gray made the or. gan possible. It was dedicated to the memory of his wife, Clara Gray, and to the Ladles aid society, of whloh she was a talthful member tor more than forty years. The bal- anee of the tlnances were raised by the aid society, by the teachers and scholars of the ^unday School clas- aes and by Individual subscriptions. Un snonymous friend paW tor tlve years' insurance policy. The organ complete with chimes was installed for $3,S50. Mrs. Av. I. Terhune is the able organist baving given years ot stqdy ito that kind ot musical instruments. Rev Terhune, Rev. DePew and Dist. Supt. J. G. Tucker occupied the pul¬ pit. The choir rendered special mu. sic. Mr. C. E. Hemphill presented the organ. Dr. J. M' Boyles accept¬ ed the gift. Rev. Tucker gave the address, "Music in Worship". A)* the close of the service the be- love dand venei-able Mr. Robert Ora? arose for a few words of thanks to the church tor their cooperation In the rartsing of funds. To this noble ahd generous christian'' 'man tbe ehurch owes a great debt ot grati- ttWe and love.
