Plan Second Ridge Firehouse
Plans for the erection of
a second fire station in
Chicago Ridge moved a step
closer Tuesday night when
village officials were of-fered
a site.
The offer came from
North American Car Corp,,
which said it would give a
200- foot wide lot on the
north side of the Southwest
highway.
This would give the vil-lage
a second fire station
north of the two railroad
tracks, a source of con-cern
to fire. officials with
the lone fire house located
south of the tracks.
Bids are being received
for the purchasing of 1000
gallon pumper for the fire
department.
This piece of equipment,
if purchased, would be hou-sed
in the new station.
Fire Chief Robert Mil-ler
said a second fire sta-tion
and the new pumper
is a necessity, if the village
fire department is to be
adequate to serve the en-tire
village in an emer-gency.
