"…declares that he is 70 years of age, and a resident of Arlington Heights, Ill county of Cook, State of Ill.; and that he is the identical person who was ENROLLED at Colon, Mich under the name of James W. Watson, on the 10 day of July, 1862, as a Sergeant, in Co. C 17th Michigan Infantry 1st Sergeant in the service of the United States, in the Civil war, and was HONORABLY DISCHARGED at the Delany House DC, on the 3 day of June, 1865…That he was not employed in the military of naval service of the United States otherwise than as stated above. That his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height, 5 feet 8 inches; complexion, Dark; color of eyes, Blue: color of hair, Dark; that his occupation was Merchant; that he was born June 20, 1842. in Cook Co Ill. That his several places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows: Colon, Mich 1865, Buchanan, Mich 66 to 68, Independence, Ia 69 to 71, Chicago, Ill 71 to 1903, Arlington Heights, Ill 1904 to 1911. That his post-office address is Panama City, county of Washington, State of Florida."
