HOTEL DE LUXE
Is NOW OPEN
The Hotel DeLuxe,owned by Louis Kacheras, opened for business last week. It was formerly known as the White Front Hotel, when run by Otto Frellson.
Kacheras has remodeled and redecorated the entire building, so that it is now one of the nicest small hotels in northern Illinois.
The DeLuxe Cafe, owned by Mr. Kacheras, will be moved in the near future from its present location at 207 West Main Street to the hotel building, at 206 West Main Street. It is planned to close the cafe Wednesday, December 26, and re-open it in its new location Monday, December 31. Workmen are now busy getting the new restaurant ready.
Has 30 Rooms.
The new hotel has 30 rooms, which will be $1.00, $1.25 and $1.50 a day.
On the first floor will be a small lobby, with the hotel desk. Behind this will be a telephone booth at the entrance to a private dining room. To the east of the lobby wal be the new coffee shop. In the rear will be the kitchens, which will have only the most up-to-date equipment.
The second and third floors have been completely renovated. Battleship linoleum has been placed on the hall floors, new furniture has been purcased, with rugs for the rooms. The beds are all steel with 100- coil springs and felt mattresses. New electric fixtures were installed.
Put in Running Water.
Hot and cold running water has been installed, and several baths put in. Writing desks for each room arrived Monday, and were put up this week.
One of the features of the hotel is a writing room which was made I on the second floor overlooking Main Street. Comfortable chairs and good I desks were put in.
The improvements cost more than $10,000, Mr. Kacheras stated. A formal opening will be held soon.
